“busy but the best guacamole”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

We were walking around the West Village looking for a place to eat and we stumbled upon El Toro Blanco. We went inside at about 8PM and the place was packed. We did not have a reservation and they told us that if we wanted to we could sit at one of the bars and have access to the full menu, otherwise we would have to wait to be seated since they were packed! We chose to sit at the bar because it we knew it would not bother us one bit. To start we ordered drinks, Rasperry Tequila Sangria (which was delicious) and Pico de Paloma (he loved it but I am not a huge fan of grapefruit). Then they brought out chips and guacamole along with a tray of three salsas. The chips were warm which is the best! The salsa is regular, mild, then hot. The hot is really hot! The guacamole is the best though. I could have sit there and ate the chips all night. I had the chicken enchiladas and then he had the Carne Tampiquena. Both were great, especially the Carne Tampiquena. We did not order dessert as we were stuffed. Service was great. They constantly bring you more chips as you need them.
In all we had a great time here and we would definitely go back!

“Mexican on a whole new level”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

If you love guacamole, ceviche, and tacos, this is the place for you! The guacamole, which comes from their guacamole bar (think sushi bar), is superb. Roll it up in a tortilla with some queso and you've got the ultimate appetizer. I had the tuna ceviche, which was absolutely delicious. I actually ordered a second one and downed it within seconds. I then had the red snapper dish, which comes with a delicious tomato-stew-type relish. It was really good. The chef (Josh Capon) is also the chef at nearby Lure Fishbar and Burger & Barrel, so you know he knows his way around seafood and beef. There's lots more on the menu that I would love to try, but it will have to wait until next time.
