“Good value and location in New York”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2014

I stayed here on February 28th for business and it proved to be a great choice especially if arriving by train into New York’s Penn Station. It’s only ½ block walk down 33rd Ave between 8th and 9th. If you have to take a taxi to your business or event it is an excellent value for what you get.

The lobby is very light and sunny and welcoming with lots of chairs and sofas to relax and WIFI is free.

Our room on the 20th floor was small but typical of New York standards. It had a small closet with a large safe and iron & board. There was only one drawer, which is a bit odd if you were there for longer than 2 days, but the desk was good with lots of outlets for electronics, and the desk chair was comfortable. Where the other drawers should have been was an ottoman on wheels.

The bathroom was fine but fits only one person at a time.
A buffet breakfast is included in the price of the room and there were a good variety of things to eat from scrambled eggs to yogurts and cereals. If the weather is good there is a nice outdoor area to enjoy a breakfast outside.

Also in nicer weather they open up a bar on the rooftop! The view from up there was great.

Reception was friendly and the concierge recommended a restaurant for lunch that was exactly what we had in mind.

I recommend a stay here next time you are in New York.

Room Tip: Get a higher room for a possible view and quiet.

So very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this property... spacious and very comfortable and well-equipped room, delicious and abundant breakfast buffet, great location for enjoying NYC. Helpful and friendly staff too, and a great rate for NYC - we'll be back!
About 20 years ago we stayed in a Fairfield Inn in Vermont, and were so disappointed with the quality of the property (I remember thinking - how can Marriott claim this as one of their properties!!?) that since that time we have refused to stay in another Fairfield Inn. Well this was a very last minute trip, and we chose this hotel for it's location (easy access from the DC-NYC bus and the Javits center - the NY Times Travel show) thinking that if it were a big disappointment we wouldn't be spending much time in the room anyway. Well it has completely changed our opionion of Fairfield Inns, and we won't hesitate to chose one on our future trips. Thanks, Marriott, for a great experience and stay!

This hotel was fantastic - right across the street from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. The room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was fine, bagels, scrambled eggs, sausage, bagels, toast, muffins, cereal, etc.....we arrive an hour before check-in and the front desk staff gave us a King Suite, which was beautiful and ready (we had just traveled 5 hours via train and just wanted to stretch out for a bit). We will definitely return to this hotel. We asked for additional blankets and pillows and they arrived swiftly!

Stayed for one night before a business meeting at the Penn Plaza nearby. Since we took the red-eye to NY we got to the hotel before 6:00am and still got checked in right away. The room was spacey enough for my needs and the space was efficiently used. The room has a desk which I used for doing some work and the shower was large enough to contain a bathtub (although it didn't). Breakfast was good and contains several hot and cold items - Pretty much the stuff you would normally pay for in an actual Marriott, the only difference is the usage of disposable utensils instead of china. The lobby is good enough as a staging area before going to the city, not really suitable for any business meeting or for working. For a price of 139$/night (around 160$ inc. taxes) I couldn't ask for more in NY. They also offered an advanced booking rate (non-refundable) for 109$ before taxes.

When they say Penn Station...they mean it...out an exit from Penn Station and it is only a third of a block to the entrance of the hotel... The hotel hasn't been open a full year and it looks great. The rooms are spacious and the free breakfast was perfect...Location, Location, Location...about two blocks from Macy's and other shopping on 34th street. Front Desk, Bellman and Restaurant breakfast employees are friendly and go out of their way to help and give information and directions...all in all a great weekend in New York City...

I have stayed in Hampton Inns in Manhattan in the past. This hotel is new and very crisp and clean. Staff is great. Rooms are big by Manhattan standard. You can't go wrong with location here. Everything you need is nearby. Breakfast area and breakfast itself are wonderful.

I paid usd122+ per night for two nights. It is wort each and every penny I paid. But I check the prices online and as the summer sets in, the go as high as usd340+.

Stayed here this past weekend and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. Make sure to visit the balcony for some amazing NYC views. Prices are very reasonable and a great breakfast was included.
I did, however, not appreciate the bell person getting our bags making a point that he works on tips and should receive one. I worked in hospitality for many years and know that. Theres no need to request a tip. Besides this rude bell person, every other staff was very nice and welcoming.

Room Tip: Get a room with the city view

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the view from the roof Terrance - it is definitely breathe-taking. We are sadden to hear about the experience you encountered with our bell staff and we will certainly look into that as it very concerning to us.
If you travel plans bring you back to NYC please contact me directly as I will ensure you have a flawless stay.
