We came to check-in at the hotel, and were very pleased with the location. Just a few blocks from Grand Central Station, and a nice short walk to Times Square/5th Avenue. Staff was VERY knowledgeable and friendly. We arrived early, and the room was not ready, but staff graciously checked our bags. They had fresh baked cookies in the lobby each evening, which was a welcome touch. Rooms were clean, and while quite small (not unexpected), they were laid out well. I appreciated the stand alone shower, over a tub/shower combination. My only complaint is that for a new hotel, the walls are quite thin...we were placed next to a family with two small children and were unable to get an afternoon nap from the doors slamming, and them being rowdy. In fairness, we didn't approach the staff, since it was 3pm in the afternoon, but if you're a light sleeper, might be worth asking the staff if they have a quieter floor, or a corner room. All in all, a nice, clean, new hotel which is a good value, and considerably cheaper than many "full-service" hotels if you're looking for an inexpensive, but clean hotel in Manhattan.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms with balconies are nice, and a nice addition in case the small room size gets a l...

A bit pricey but much cheaper than most when comparing. Had internet and breakfast included which was a huge bonus, although the food was mediocre and the internet a bit slow. Decent location to the main attractions of NYC, and very very close to Grand Central for access to the rest of Manhattan. Staff was also very kind and accommodating. One little quirk- no closing bathroom door. Was a sliding panel that provided ZERO privacy, as you could literally see into the bathroom when the door was fully closed (nice view of toilet AND shower). Awkward when sharing with friends...

My traveling companion and I decided to try this new Hampton Hotel in the Turtle Bay area of Midtown East because the introductory rates were so appealing. We have stayed at various hotels in NYC but hadn't spent much time at all in this particular area of Turtle Bay and Murray Hill so we thought why not give it a go? Fortunately, we were very pleased with this selection. Just generally, we found the hotel met or exceeded our expectations in every way. The accommodations and amenities were very nice and the hotel staff were all very efficient and congenial. As for location, though we came to realize it is a bit off the beaten path in that it isn't in the middle of all the crazy hustle and bustle of "The Big Apple" and is located on the east side of Grand Central, it was nice to kind of have a different view of the city from another angle. Walking the streets in that particular area of the city was a lot of fun and we made some good discoveries. FYI, the United Nations (just down the street) was not in session at the time we visited so that would account for the quiet atmosphere we encountered. For those of you who want to visit the UN, however, the location of this hotel would be perfect. The hotel is right next to Tudor City and Tudor City Gardens which we found absolutely gorgeous. We walked north on 2nd Avenue and found Ess-a-Bagel between 50th & 51st Streets. Best bagel we've had yet in NYC. Spike Lee's favorite coffee shop, Viand, was a good find at Madison & 61st Streets but it was too crowded when we got there so we'll try it some other time. Spike claims it's the best coffee shop in the city. One thing's for sure and that is it's a total "blast from the past" coffee shop. Very old school. The Silver Star is on 2nd Avenue between 64th & 65th and is a great old school diner. Don't miss their cheesecake. Of course when you get up into this area of the city, it's very busy with lots of traffic and people walking the streets--at least in the middle of the day--so prepare yourself for that type of congestion. Getting back to the location of the hotel, there are lots of places to explore nearby. If you walk south on 3rd Street, you'll find some nice restaurants including Patsy's on 3rd Avenue between 34th & 35th Streets. It was good but we admit we found Patsy's in Greenwich Village is a step better. There is a great spot we found called Just Salad on 3rd Avenue between 39th & 40th Streets. If you love salad, this is your place. They make all salads to order. If you're in the mood for a drink and the weather calls for it, the Pod 39 Hotel on 39th Street between Lexington & 3rd has a cool rooftop bar. The sunset from that location is beautiful. There's also a great-looking Chinese restaurant on the corner of Lexington & 51st we discovered but haven't tried yet. The decor is very upscale and reviews are good so we'll try it next time we're in that area. The bar looks inviting. Anyway, just a few tidbits to share for anyone interested in staying in this particular part of NYC. As for us, we can't wait until our next trip. Time for us to go and discover even more of what this city has to offer. There's absolutely just no place on the planet like New York City!

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to write this review on our property and surrounding locations. We are sure our future guests will take this information for granted to score some good eats and drinks as well while staying at our location. Just to add to your list there is a really good Spanish cuisine restaurant called Alcala located just behind the hotel on 44th street between 2nd and 3rd avenues. It brings us great pleasure to hear that you enjoyed our staff and complimentary amenities during your stay. Hopefully the next time you travel back to the city we will be your choice of stay.

This hotel is in excellent condition and the location is very convenient for many reasons. My only caveat is that the room (I had a king room with balcony) seemed small for the price. But then again, it is Manhattan.

This was one of the best hotels In NYC I have stayed at in the last 5 years. The front desk staff and manger are all wonderful and the rooms are brand new. The only suggestion is work on breakfast items staying replenished until 10am. Thanks for everything.

Room Tip: Book the balcony rooms the view is unbelievable.

We booked this hotel for an overnight for the weekend after Christmas. The city was crazy busy but the hotel is in a much quieter part of the city which is kind of nice. We went out for a nightcap and there aren't a lot of hip/cool places to find within a short walk. However the old Palm restaurant is right there and that has some great old city history. The hotel is super convenient to Grand Central which means easy access to a lot of transportation. Parking was right next door and was not a deal killer (even with a SUV, which adds about $13 more).

The room was about what you would expect; small, but by NY standards pretty good. We paid extra for a view room but we were stuck on 17th floor north side and frankly the view was disappointing. The bedsheets and duvets were very comfortable and as far as I am concerned, that means a lot. The bed was a little soft for my taste.

Front desk staff was pleasant. The service was good: when we asked for addition sheets they were delivered quickly by a kind and smiling staff member. Breakfast and dining room were as one would expect from a Hampton in anywhere in the country. Not much. If you are looking for a cool new chique hotel this is not the place. The lobby is small and very underwhelming. The hallways, are compact and unattractive but so what.

I will probably book elsewhere next time just for a change of pace, but if you are quoted a good rate do not be afraid to take it.

Room Tip: Higher up west side view is probably good for Chrystler, east view is of UN and river, south don...
