In town for a wedding, decided to take in a bus tour on 42nd st at Bryant Park with Go New York Tours. Tour guide informative humerous, bus clean. Our nightmare began on our return run back to 42nd st, the 1st bus that came was full the one directly after was almost empty but did not wait and drove off, the next bus did not come for one hour, the only seats that were available were down stair where the windows do not open and the air conditioner was broken on a hot 97° day. It became unbearable and passengers requested to be dropped off, they also changed the bus route in an attempt to avoid Friday rush hour traffic. This bus was not in good condition and sounded and felt like one of the shock absorber had failed. Who regulates these bus Co ? This is not a good representation for New York City.

Please do not waste your time with this company.

They have several tour options, we chose the 72 hour all inclusive option for $42.00 / person. This option should give you the ability to "hop on / hop off" and switch between several popular routes with some interesting points of interest. Sounds great in theory so far....?

Problems :

Lack of buses. They show up ramdomly and it looks like they only have one bus per route!

Long wait times. We waited 1 hour and 10 minutes before we decided to WALK to an attraction. There were at least 50 people waiting most of which gave up and moved on. Everyone was cranky and angry.

Poorly organized, the staff seemed to be focused only on a commisioned sale of packages and not helping clients. When approached regarding the bus schedule and wait time, the "official" employee - look for the green jacket - became aggressive with customers and shortly after simply vanished leaving 50 people looking for answers. No one could say when the next bus was coming - everyone got a different answer.

To add insult to our wait time we counted 12 red buses (their competitor Grey Line) as we waited before we gave up.
P.S. I would like to see reviews of their competitor if you use them. For next time.

The "guided" portion consisted of a employee yelling out random comments about a few of the sight's. No PA, no information that one would really expect on a tour bus of this type. Really mickey mouse...

There are sales people all around the city selling these tours, JUST WALK AWAY from them you will be throwing your money away! Better you flush it down the toilet, at least you will feel less cheated that way.

All in all it was a poor experience. I cannot recommend it to anyone unless you like doing a lot of walking in between waits. Nothing like walking in NYC in humid 85 degree weather from 42nd street to the MET museum after standing waiting for a bus that does not come for over an hour... Or paying for a cab or a city bus after you just forked out $42 bucks....

Too bad, this looks like it could be a fun tour if organized better.

Did not research bus tours but should have. The other reviews are correct. Long waits, not enough buses, inoperable sound system, tour guides hostile if a tip is not given and buses did not follow scheduled routes. I will admit that the night tour was good but only because everything was working and the guide was in a good mood because this was his last tour and was quitting after us. The uptown tour was the worst. We drove around the park with no landmarks being mentioned. Did not follow scheduled route. Supposed to leave every hour but they changed it to every 2 hours. I agree with another poster. NYC needs to inspect this company.

This is not the tour that you want to take! Look for Gray Line instead! They advertise "hop on - hop off", but I witnessed twice today that people were not allowed to get on the bus because it was full. It was full because the buses run about every hour! The other lines run every few minutes. I only gave this a one circle rating because its the lowest available! Even one of the people that work for this company told me that it was the worst tour company in New York! I regret so much not having checked tripadvisor before buying these tickets. By all means take a bus tour of Manhattan because it's the easiest way to see everything and then decide where you want to spend more time at, but use another bus line, DO NOT USE this one, they are just terrible!

I'm not sure where to begin with GO New York Tours: expensive, few busses, crowded, headphones that don't work, not enough ponchos (for the rain), guides who apparently don't know anything, angry bus drivers. It's all bad!
