Description: Japanese restaurant with live music. We are located in the historical West village in New York City. We are the only restaurant offering opera, jazz, rock music at the same place. We were reviewed in THE NY TIMES, NBC TV, WQXR,BBC etc. Chef and owner Tora has been running restaurants over 17 years. He's been running Ido Sushi with his wife Jane for the last 7 years. Ido has a family restaurant atmosphere and the freshest fish, meat and vegetables. Chef Tora believes that good food and good music will make customers come back. So come and enjoy!!

The restaurant is a small, cozy authentic Japanese place. The chef and server were very friendly and warm. The food is fairly priced and I found it delicious. Certainly not the best sushi ever, but very tasty. My sister and I shared the Tora's sushi platter. It provided a nice variety of sushi pieces with various fish selections. I enjoyed the selections. I would recommend this place for a comfortable dining experience with pleasant service.

I stopped at the restaurant because of the sign outside for $1 oysters w/caviar. It's a tiny, dark, crowded restaurant in the village but I was not disappointed by the oysters. I ordered the raw oysters w/caviar and even ordered a second batch. Try them w/the hot pepper sauce. However, they also offered grilled oysters with garlic for $1.50 & they were absolutely delicious! I ordered a second batch of these too. I also ordered a spicy tuna roll from the regular menu, but chose not to order anything else because I felt the prices were inflated. Not sure if they did this to offset the cost of the dollar oysters. Regardless, the oysters were worth the trip. There was also an opera showcase while there and it's my understanding that it happens once a week.
