“Solid choice for Indian food”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We have dined at Benares a few times and have tried a variety of items from their menu. Every choice has been very good as has their service. Recommended for those living in or visiting lower Manhattan.

“Less than ok food”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

Nothing bad but nothing to write home about
Massala chicken were dry and didn't feel as if they came from the tandure as they should have. Heavy use of garlic maybe to cover lacking gravies

If you are looking for excellent Indian food with comparable service, look no further. Lots of vegetarian options too.

“Pretty good Indian in TriBeCa”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

This restaurant is a good value for the money and the service is very attentive. The food is ver good but not great. The scallops tawa appetizer has an excellent and flavorful sauce but the scallops were a bit underdone. The Chilean sea bass dish was excellently prepared and presented The chicken saag was good but could have benefited from a bit more spice. All in all the place is a good place to eat

“The only Indian restaurant worth the second visit”
Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

There are many Indian restaurants in NY. You can try them all, but if you are looking for the only Indian restaurant worth your while, taste buds, and money. Than this is the indian restaurant is the one you want to try. Went here for a dinner before going to broadway show, and they have the best Indian food I have had in NYC. On top of that an excellent wine list and exceptional dessert.
