“Great view, nice food”
Reviewed May 10, 2013 via mobile

Visited last week with a party of 8.. The first few minutes we all were impressed by the excellent view over nyc skyline with sun going down in the reflection of the skyscrapers..
It was nice to see that there appetisers are being served in portions that are actually meant to be eaten by one person.. Nice salads and several meat dishes that all were nice and tasty.
Because we were with a group we decided to share some Bbq dishes.. You can choose individual dishes or have a combination platter with different meats on it (rib eye, marinated beef, duck, shrimps, etc). The 120 dollar platter serves 4 to 5 so is a good deal... It is being served with nice healthy side dishes (salad, cabbage, fruit).. Although a lot of reviews mention that all food is being prepared for you at the table Bbq (and so does the menu) we had to do this ourselves because our waiter was simultaneously serving several other tables... Service overall was okay but not very good /no personal touch... Dessert of poached pear was very nice... Coffee was an issue to me... Although they pretend to serve a very good espresso it was very disappointing... No crema, far to long extraction time... They really need to send some personal on a barista course.
Overall nice healthy eating experience with a view to die for and a few flaws that can be fixed easily..

“Great view !”

This is a restaurant with quite fair prices and the food with the great skyline view will satisfy you.
Ask for a table by the window.

“A view and a savory slice of Korean”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

In a neighborhood of unadorned Korean eateries, this sopt literally rises above the rest. The top-floor setting provides a "wow" view of the Empire State Building. Sit in the bar and enjoy a select menu with your drinks. Get a table and explore the new takes on amazing Korean dishes as you enjoy the city view. Service and atmosphere are top-notch. Great for a date or to impress visitors.

“We must be missing something...”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

First the good. The views are stunning - nearly worth a trip just for them alone. And the staff were lovely and friendly - and took the time to explain various dishes. The theatre of having the food cooked in front of you is also fun.

However, the food in the main was disappointing. A couple of our dishes were very good but others were just not to our tastes. And judging by the tables around us, not to theirs either. Both the squid and prawns were over cooked and for the price you pay you should expect better. The traditional Korean accompaniments to the BBQ were a little unusual to say the least - cold mash potato anyone?

“History in the making!”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

We're here all the time because we love the food, the views and the staff. Great service! This is where we got engaged and also the place we had our wedding reception in NY. We'd like the viewers to make an effort to come here when your trip brings you to NY. It's a lovely place, beautiful views and romantic but also good for business and dine with friends and family. Not to mention nice selection of wines. I'd highly recommend Gaonnuri to everyone! Enjoy! *:)
