“Can't wait to go back to this wonderful hotel!”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

We were recommended the Refinery by another couple. We were going to see a concert and wanted to stay close. The hotel is located in the heart of the city and centrally located. When we arrived we were met by friendly personal who were very accommodating to all our needs. The room was spacious and it had many ammenities. We had the opportunity to go to the roof top bar and the staff was extremely helpful and the appetizers were wonderful. Our favorite part of the night was enjoying the beautiful view of the Empire State Building lite up.

Room Tip: If possible you would like a room facing the Empire State Building.

Positives: great location close to Bryant Park Subway and easy walking to most central places. Situated on a quiet road. Our room was inward facing so nice and quiet and the most comfortable bed ever! Staff were nice, thank you to Aziz!
Negatives: not enough storage for clothes, bathroom not really private and door was see through!
Downstairs area always quite busy with people coming in for the Rooftop bar. Restaurant food was very average and staff looked stressed. The Rooftop bar was stunning but again the staff were not really that friendly. We felt quite uncomfortable and didn't go back which is such a shame. Maybe residents in hotel should be given priority for a table?
We did have a fantastic few days in this great city and overall our experience at the hotel was a good one.

Room Tip: For a quiet room get one facing the back.

This is a new hotel in a renovated hat factory in the garment district. The location is very good. The room and bathroom was large by NY standards. The adjoining restaurant was very good with a wonderful atmosphere. The rooftop bar with views of Empire State must not be missed. The concierge and the bellman were outstanding and provided a wonderful service which enhanced our NY visit. The furnishings are very modern and would appeal to the younger trendy visitors as well.

A three day stay was made easy by the helpful, enthusiastic staff. Some glitches occurred along the stay and they were right on top of things. We had a large comfortable room. The roof bar is very popular and looked beautiful. The car they arranged to take us to the airport was quite late and they bent over backwards to help us out including a follow up phone call and email and reduction in the price of when the car finally arrived.

Room Tip: The rooms fronting on 38th street a very loud - we could not sleep. People who had rooms facing the...

The staff is gracious and welcoming from the doorman to registration desk to security. This is a very popular place with lots of events but be aware that children are not allowed on the rooftop other than a quick visit because it is a bar. Definitely ask to have a tour of the rooftop with children before the evening begins…great views. The location is great with the subway nearby (Bryant Park - 2 blocks away) and easily within walking distance to many midtown sites. The decor is wonderful, the beds are very comfortable, it was great being close to the Theater District but far enough away to have some quiet. Love it!

Really enjoyed my stay at The Refinery. The lobby and bell staff were very personable and helpful in getting us cabs in front of property when needed. Room was small but very comfortable. Bed was very comfy! Bathroom was nice and on a larger scale that some NYC hotels and a good surprise since the room was on the smaller size. I did think the closet was quite small and was looking forward to making coffee in the morning instead of going to lobby, but just no room for it I think. the roof top bar is absolutely beautiful and you must def make a visit here even if not staying on site. Location is one of the best attributes and you can certainly walk to all main attractions quite easily!

The only negative aspects were no in room coffee which was really needed after late nights out with clients and the lobby bar was very crowded and very understaffed. The server there took at least 20 minutes with our drinks, was not able to provide a glass of water after repeatedly asking and told one of my clients there were out of 4 items before she hit on a 5th option they had available. However these things do happen and would I totally stay here when again in the city or if I bring my family up for the weekend.

Good location (2 blocks from Bryant Park), beautiful hotel, and a rooftop with a huge view of The Empire State Building.
And all my thanks to the team and especially Albert who helped me a lot during my stay.
