Just before Christmas, while staying just one night in New York, we went looking for somewhere to eat near our hotel in Broadway and spotted a signpost for "The Best Irish American Pub" pointing down a side road. The pub restaurant is in the basement and looked what we imagined was really sort of a typically Irish American Pub with lovely lighting and table sections, cheerful Christmas decorations and at least half a dozen large tv screens showing an American football match. I had the Maryland Crab Cakes (lovely) and steamed cauliflower, broccoli and baby carrots (well cooked) and chips (so overcooked many were actually black (not good!). My husband had sliced lamb as they only did 14 oz steaks which I guess is a standard size for American steaks (in England standard size is 8 oz which he can manage!) along with fresh vegetables and mash which he reckoned was very good. We were pleased that we had chosen the place and enjoyed both the meal and the surroundings. It seemed pretty good value although I am not an expert on this! I have included some photos as there don't seem to be many for this place.
