Rafele is owned by a formerly itinerant Italian chef named Rafele Ronac from near Naples. You can’t miss him, because his enthusiasm imbues the restaurant’s every fibre. He will cook for you, greet you, chat with you, make sure you get the right wines and generally be the most attentive host.

Normally, as an Englishman, this is where I start to complain about wanting a quiet meal and being left alone. But at Rafele what you get is not some tip seeking teenager reading from a script. You get the owner and his devoted staff checking if you are having a good time because they actually take pride in what they do.

This is not fine dining in the traditional sense, but it really is very fine cooking. The food has a depth of flavour that comes from using good ingredients and taking time to do things properly. Everything is prepared from first ingredients and everything is very, very good.

Rafele Ronca comes from near to the famous “Walk of the Gods” on the Amalfi coast. His cooking and obvious passion for his restaurant is equally worth the walk down 7th Avenue. We have eaten in dozens of Michelin Starred Restaurants and we really liked this place a lot. It is authentic and to cap it all, it cost less than we would have paid if asked to guess.

Rafele Restorante was recommended to us and 7 friends visited and enjoyed the Chef's Table experience. Chef Rafele and staff made you feel immediately at home with their gracious welcome, open kitchen and authentic Italian cuisine. From apps, entrees, through desserts each dish exceeded our expectations. For an authentic Italian experience, visit Rafele Restorante....you won't be disappointed!!

We were introduced to Rafele and his restaurant -- Ristorante Rafele (http://rafele.com/). -- on the Original Greenwich Village Food and Culture Tour by FoodTours. After the tasting there. we returned for a meal. We opted for the tasting menu which was much more than a taste – all nine dishes we had were in more than generous portions. And they were all wonderful! I especially liked the eggplant parmigiana and the tagliolini Al funghi (mixed mushrooms and truffle pate). The staff was warm and friendly and provided professional service. I look forward to a return visit the next time I’m in NYC.

Ristorante Rafele is one of the jewels for dining in NYC. Located in the West Village, it is a beautiful new addition to Manhattan fine dining. NYC is filled with Italian restaurants; however, few - if any - achieve the authentic and honest taste of Italy. Chef Rafele is a handsome and charming host assisted by an excellent staff; every dish on the menu is extraordinary--simple, filled with flavor and made with the best organic and locally grown food available. Your evening at Rafele will be one to remember: superb food, beautiful presentation, joyful atmosphere and the best ricotta cheesecake you ever tasted.

We had a wonderful night at Rafele. We sat at the chefs table and ordered the chefs menu. Rafele is an outstanding chef and very charming host. You would love to have him talk with you all night.

The food was delicious, and the presentation and service were just right. We had more than enough courses for the two of us.

Friends recommended this and I am so glad they did. Don't miss it.
