“A "Must Dine" in my book!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

We were introduce to the Rafele restaurant while on a Greenwich Village Food tour. This restaurant is authentic Naples Italian, from the fresh homemade food to the Italian owners and staff. We could have listened to them talk all day. We decided that we had to come back for dinner. They have a special "Chef's Table" that is close to the kitchen. You can see the extra care the chefs take in preparing everything from scratch. They also offer a "Chef's Tasting". It is a 4 course tasting that includes appetizers, pastas, entrees and desserts. Pierluigi Osanni, tommias and even Chef Raffaele came by between courses to talk to us about the food and make sure we wanted for nothing. You will definately need to come hungry because the food just keeps coming and each item will blow you away. The flavors are so pure and delightful. You haven't had true Italian food until you have had Rafele's. This is a MUST if you are in New York, even if it means making a special trip. You will not be disappointed.

“excellent! Authentic Italian food, fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

Finally a NY restaurant where the menu, wine list, service and atmosphere are all excellent. Not only is the food great, but it's actually made by Italians from ITALY! The tasting menu is an incredible deal. We had that last time, and this time decided to wing it. Not disappointed!
We had: baby fried artichokes, roasted cauliflower with pine nuts and currants (OMG YUM!) Pasta and truffle pate (I now have arrived in heaven) of course this was pasta made in house and so good I am actually thinking of going back and getting 2 orders and eating them on my couch alone before my hubby comes home :) He had the lamb ragu, also a big YUM and he devoured it. I had the roasted chicken and he did the pork belly. Both were phenomenal. Keep in mind, we eat. We eat out a lot. We cook, we drink, and we know a good meal. If you rather go to Olive Garden, go there. This restaurant knows what they are doing, and too boot, the bathroom is beautiful!

“Great food, personal service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Attended at Rafels for dinner after sampling a few delicious morsels earlier in the day on a food tour.

Enjoyed the 'Chefs Selections' option which consisted of copious amounts of authentic Italian fare. At $45pp we thought it was great value when compared to the current NY restaurant week 'Prix Fixe' options at 38pp.

The friendly and knowledgable staff promptly served us with some assorted house baked breads and antipasto, which went great with our initial cocktails and sangria. A delicious fava bean, fennel and rocket salad was then served with 3 cheese arancini - great combo!

Next up was a pork, veal and beef ragu with tagliatelle and a baked gnocchi with tomato sugo and tallegio - Both ample servings!

Already full and thinking we'd done pretty well for our dollars out came a large braised pork chop with summer salad, and a tempura style fish with Mediterranean vegetables! Both divine!

To finish with the house ricotta cheese cake really topped off a sensational meal! Tea or coffee was also included, but we just couldn't fit it in!

Really enjoyed the open kitchen, watching the chefs in action!

Whilst Rafael the head chef and owner was busy overseeing his fellow chefs, he did find the time to speak to his customers which was nice. Was great to be able to tell the chef in person his delicious the good was!

Authentic Italian food with a good atmosphere. All round winner!

Thanks for a great night!
