“great location, accomodating staff, new hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

This hotel is in a great location, not just for the LES but also for the parts of Brooklyn off the J line where there are not many hotel options. The price is decent for New York. It is new and so it is cleaner and in better shape than you would expect for the price. The air-conditioning is loud but works gloriously well. (We paid extra for a 'city view' room but did not really have much of a view at all, so if you are on a budget skip that upgrade.) But most important: it is two short blocks from the Donut Plant.

We stayed for a week, and had a great time in NY. Lots of restaurants within walkingdistance from the hotel and a subwaystation right outside. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were nice and clean. The only problem was that the AC made a lot of noice.

The room is nice and cosy, on the small side but this was New York. I paid 150 Usd for a night, not inclusive of breakfast. It has pretty much everything required of a 3 star hotel, clean and well appointed. It is newly renovated, so none of the maintenance problems that comes with dated hotels. Very comfortable!
It is near to the subway, about 2 mins walk max.
The front desk service is excellent. The staff Sheila checked me in, and she was really efficient. What really impressed me is the effort and initiative she took to find out information on the internet when I mentioned that I needed a bus ride to Boston. It was very much appreciated!
They cater well to the business traveller, you can ask them to fax documents and it is complimentary.
During the daytime I think it was safe enough, during night time I am not too sure. I am a single female traveller and safety is always a concern. I would think that Times Square area is safer, just because many tourists=more police presence.

My husband and I were here visiting our daughter and stayed here because of the convenience to the JMZ subway to Brooklyn and the ease to get around the city by subway. It was 4 stops from our daughter. The staff were polite and always greater us with a smile. The rooms are very compact but we only slept here. The place is very clean and new which made it more desireable. Only negative are people slamming doors at all hours. Not sure if that's the doors not being quiet enough or the guests. Overall I would recommend if you need to be in the lower east side.

Perhaps I like midtown better because I am reading reviews from people who say the location is great. I guess that depends on what you are looking for. For me, the location was the only down side to this hotel. I like to spend a lot of time in midtown and on the west side (I couldn't find a cheaper hotel in these areas). What I gained in value, I lost in the cost of taxi fares. Taking the subway during the day was no problem as it is right outside the hotel. However, I won't take a subway at night and I spent quite a lot of money in cab fares. Aside from that, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable. If you don't mind the location and you don't expect any extra frills, this is definately a hotel worth considering.

This brand new hotel offers a compelling value. It can be $159 or $499, as NYC rates fluctuate like the wind, but if it's the former it's definitely worth it. Rooms are tiny as are all NYC rooms (and most apts!) but the staff is awesome. Great front desk whom are very helpful. Nice little business area where you can print out boarding passes or any other important documents. Again, this hotel is new so everything is in great shape. Yeah it's not on Central Park South but that's what's cool about it; being a resident of the city for 13 years (I just moved back and stayed here amidst the relocation) this area has yet to be gentrified so it has a ton of character. And the F subway line is right down the street. Plus, it's right off the Williamsburg Bridge so especially consider staying here if you're flying into LGA. I loved this place. Tried to stay here again, but then the rates skyrocketed--it has its fans!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street may be more noisy. Mine faced the back and didn't have much of a view bu...

While I have been a member of Intercontinental Hotels' membership plan for years, I didn't actually know this was an IHG Hotel or a Holiday Inn when I booked it. For the first time, I tried a blind booking site where you put in a star rating and location and blindly book, hoping for the best. I got this Holiday Inn. Surprise! It was great.
I did not know much about the Lower East Side. I knew that we wanted something in the South part of NYC, and the price was right for this property. The hotel is much more modern than most of the surrounding neighborhood. The property was spotless, and the room was very comfortable. The beds had that famous IHG firm mattress which I love, and the sleep quality was excellent.
The hotel is right next to The Wiliamsburg Bridge, making the hotel ideal for travel into Brooklyn as well. Several restaurants, stores and pharmacies are within just a couple of minute's walking distance, and I actually fell in love with the urban charm of the neighborhood. The hotel is also an easy walk to Chinatown and Little Italy as well.
In addition to a spotless, modern property, the service at this hotel was great. We particularly loved one of the bellman named Richard. He was so kind in helping us find things in the area, and he showed that New Yorkers can be sweethearts!
This was probably my best and most unexpected hotel experience in NYC.

Room Tip: Don't expect great views here. There really aren't any. We had a view of Burger King, and...
