“Great hotel to stay in when visiting NYC”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

I have been to NYC many times for business and stayed in many of the big name hotels. Because this was a personal trip with family I decided to try something different and booked Pod 39 for 6 nights. My daughter and I felt like the space and the amenities were just fine for us. We still had the privacy we needed, the space was just right as we were "on the go" in NYC all the time and we were really just coming back to crash at the end of busy days. What we got in return for the compromise on the space was gold - a great roof top bar, really helpful and friendly staff, clean and very functional rooms and a location in Midtown that is hard to beat!! We were close to food, Grand Central and the Subway, attractions ... all within an easy walk!! Highly recommended. Great value.

Room Tip: Choose a full Bunk Pod if there is more than one of you, the mini might be too small. We were travel...

After having stayed several times at Pod51, I tried Pod39 and loved it. The place is young and fun, and this one (Pod39) is much better located than Pod51. For NY standards, the prices are very good. Rooms are tiny but comfortable and very nicely decorated, with some cool little details. I stayed in a queen room with private bathroom. Everything is just very efficient. Never had any complaints.

Stayed here for a week in one of the 'queen' pods. The room wasn't huge but plenty of space to move around as well as areas under the bed for storage of suitcases etc. The bathroom was adequate although the glass 'wall' meant that there wasn't much privacy!

The room was cleaned every day and towels etc replaced! Housekeeping staff were very friendly as well and they did a very good job!

We had breakfast and ate in the restaurant once during our stay. Breakfast was fine although not much choice and all the items seemed more like a snack than a meal, however theres no shortage of other places around to eat which suited us fine! Our dinner experience however was not as good. The food was lovely and at a good price but service wasn't up to scratch, very slow and, as we were seated right in the corner of the restaurant, it almost felt like they had forgotten about us.

We used the services of the concierge/bellman a couple of times as well which was a bit hit and miss but overall all the staff seemed friendly!

I would definitely stay in this hotel again, great value for money with the room and a great location for getting to lots of the tourist attractions!

2nd stay at Pod 39 and it has been just as great as the first. Love my immaculate and carefully designed room. Great value for a business traveler on a budget. I'll be back and may check out Pod 51 next trip.

Recently stayed at the Pod 39 on a quick, recent work trip to NYC. If you just need a hotel to lay your head down (and don't require a ton of amenities), this place is for you. I had a Queen room, so I had my own bathroom and a larger room than others in my work party. But I have heard that other rooms do have a shared bathroom for the entire floor. We never had a chance to check out the rooftop bar as there was always a line for the elevator. But we did spend some time in Taco Salvation (located in lobby), which had a great atmosphere and cold beers after a long, hot day. Good location, a couple of blocks from the river, UN and Park Ave. No pool or fitness center.

Room Tip: If you are in a bunk bed room, ask for a room with a bathroom. There are limited amount of these ty...

I had to book at the last minute, so they only had a Queen Pod available although I was by myself. The result is that it just seemed like a small hotel room. But everything was fine and worked well. Although I asked for an iron and ironing board and the iron was leaking water and not working properly. There's definitely a vibe about the place. It was good, but for the price (because they only had a Queen Pod) I wasn't overly impressed.

This is exactly what you need when you are in New York. A great hotel at a great price, well located in the city, modern rooms, clean rooms with private bathroom and shower.

The hotel rooms are small, as the name characterizes, with comfortable beds. In New York, you do not hang in the rooms so these small rooms have everything you need. The hotel is near to everything. There is also a Metro station within walking distance from the hotel. On the way from the hotel to the center of Manhattan, there are a lot of breakfast restaurants that you can stop and eat at. We started our morning at Europa Café every day!

The staff is very helpful and pleasant. The hotel also offers good prices for transportation to airports in New York!

Glad I found this great value hotel!
