“If you plan on hanging out in the room, you're doing it wrong”

So the rooms are small. Just enough room for a bed and a tiny bit of standing/storage room to put your stuff down. If you're staying at this hotel and looking to have a party in your room, it won't be your best bet.
If you're considering price, cleanliness, location, attached "Salvation Taco" restaurant and roof-deck bar, then this is the place for you.
This is by far the cleanest (and smallest) room for this price that close to Times Square that I've ever been in, and the bed was very comfortable.

This hotel is a no frills economy city hotel with rooms slightly larger than your bed. As long as you realize this, you should have an OK stay. Of course the room size is not clear from the website but aside from that my stay was good. The primary negative was the noise level. Once you get over the fact you have slightly more than 1-2 feet walk space around the perimeter of your bed it is tolerable. The hotel is in a safe section of town and convenient to Grand Central (for subway lines) and several restaurants are within walking distance.

The website and the photos looked a bit "hip" for this old girl, and I was worried until I stepped foot in the room. My son and I had a bunk bed room. The room is perfectly designed - a place for everything and everything has it's place. The glass pocket door to the bathroom is frosted on the bottom for privacy. But by being able to see through the top of the door to the mirror - the overall feeling of the room is much larger than it's actual size and doesn't make one claustrophobic. Lots and lots of outlets - outlets by the bed - upper and lower bunk. Outlets on the desk. Outlets in the bathroom - enough for all of our electronics and then some. A really well designed luggage rack that also served as a closet and contained the room safe as well.

Quiet. This was the quietest room I have ever had in Manhattan. Never heard a neighbor and very little street noise.

View. From the terrace on the top of the hotel you can gaze out over Manhattan. Very lovely.

Location. A few blocks from Grand Central where you could connect with everything.

I highly recommend the POD and found it to be an excellent value. My son says I should add that the beds were really, really comfortable.

I loved staying at Pod 39! Very convenient location, easy access to subay via Grand Central which was a quick 2 block walk. The hotel was very clean, space well utilized, yes, the rooms were small but what do you expect. There is a reason you get such a good price. I stayed in a double pod, and it was more than spacious for the amount of time I spent in the room. The hotel staff was very helpful with directions or any other questions I had. The rooftop bar was not yet open but they did still let you go up there to experience the view. I would definetly stay here again!

Spent 4 days in NYC with one of my college friends. The room was the perfect size for the two of us and out plan to not be spending any time in the room. Having bunk beds and our own prviate bathroom was fantastic.

Room Tip: Unless you are a couple, chose a room with Bunk Bed and a private bath. More than enough space and c...

Lets start by first saying its located a 15-20 minute walk from Times Square and Macy's ($6-8 taxi ride). There was always a taxi outside the entrance, which is great for NYC as sometimes it can be difficult to get one. Its a 5-6 minute walk to Grand Central Station. We flew into Newark and took the bus to Manhattan and it was less than a 5 minute walk from the drop off/pick up for the bus, so it was less than an hour from the airport to at the desk for check in. The check in was quick and the staff was very friendly. Seeing I Pad's installed in the entrance to check the weather etc was a nice feature. We had a queen room on the 11th floor and it was much larger that we were expecting. It was clean and met all our needs. The bathroom was clean and had a shower, no tub. The wifi was free, fast and reliable in the whole building. The 17th floor has a deck, bar and sitting area that was in finishing touches and should be a nice addition. All the staff was beyond friendly and helpful and we think this is a great place to stay while in NYC. There are restaurants, pharmacies and small markets in the area but not much shopping.
