Description: Welcome to Toloache (pronounced toh-lo-AH-tchay), chef-owner Julian Medina's contemporary Mexican bistro located in the Upper East Side. Toloache is named after a flowering plant famed in Mexico for its use in love potions. We hope that when you dine with us you too will fall under the spell of chef Medina's creative cooking, which incorporates seasonal and natural ingredients and more than a dozen types of chilies. Along with the authentic Mexican menu and an exceptional tequila list, we offer elegant decorative elements imported from Mexico. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Suckling pig was utterly perfect, after a starter of three different guacamole. Everyone commented on how good their meals were. Amazing to find such good food so close to the tourist traps of Times Square.

“Awesome Upscale Mexican Food, One Junk Waitress”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013

Stumbled upon this place after night at theater, "Mexican Bistro & Tequila Bar," caught our eye. Went in for drinks, delicious margarita's and tequila's. Bar tender was fun & eager for us to try different tequila. Ate a couple tacos, just to try (already ate dinner that night, but menu looked sooo good, had to try). MMMMMMMM!!!! Couldn't wait to come back and have real entree. When we did come back, host was great, got us seated, was full house, little bit loud, but heck everybody enjoying themselves. Food was off the hook! Delicious!!! Waitress sucked!!!!! Would have been 6 or seven stars, if it wasn't for her. I'm sure was an isolated incident, would have helped if she could have spoken better English. She was an idiot!!!!!! Little bit pricey, but was upscale Mexican.

“Toloache 50 - Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013

My husband & I enjoyed the outstanding regional Mexican cuisine at Toloache 50! We liked it so much that we went there twice during our one-week stay in NYC! Each night, the restaurant was packed and lively! The service was outstanding and the food was sublime! We especially liked the Cesear Toloache, Lechon Prensado (suckling pig carnitas), the BBQ ribs (special) and the warm Mexican chocolate cake with Pastel de Chocolate + dulce de leche ice cream. We will definitely return to Toloache on our next visit to NYC!

“great food, exceptional service, good drinks, pricey for what you get”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013

Went with a friend. Very good tortilla soup, don't bother with the dull Caesar salad, excellent lobster and carne asado tacos. The choice of guacamoles was nice -- we had the rojo, and it was tasty -- but overpriced. The margaritas were the same, good ingredients and tasty but on the small and expensive side. I'd come again for the food, and it is fun and noisy. If you see a mariachi band there, you may want to think twice if you want to have any conversation at all, as the brick walls and lots of glass combine with the band to make it deafening. The service was excellent: attentive, knowledgable staff who want to make you happy and are more than happy to bring you tastes of things before you order. Very impressive service.

“Pre-theatre Mexican Marvel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Location on 50th St is good for theatre-goers. Out waitress made sure we finished in time for the show on 49th St. Atmosphere and food is up-scale authentic Mexican (mostly Ouahican). Excellent drinks (big choice of tequillas)! All four of us got different dishes and were delighted with them. Must return for more avacado fries!
