“Terrible staff with horrid attitudes, and incompetent”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013

We came on holiday for 4 nights. We are members in London. The first evening was great since we had a lovely meal there (better than the food at the clubs in London). We forgave the fact that the room was small and cluttered, and a bit dated in style. However, the stay was progressively marred by the utterly incompetent staff - particular mentions for the rude French woman on reception, and the useless concierge service. The only exception was the lovely Afro-American woman on reception early mornings who was a joy. The terrible concierge couldn't even seem to book a decent restaurant to save their lives, nor generally lift a finger. In summary, all attitude, and no quality or substance. Stay somewhere nice, and maybe just go for dinner.

I stayed here last year but have only just got round to writing a review but felt it important to share my experience as I used tripadvisor to get an idea of hotel before booking.
This was our first stay in Soho House NY after many stays in other Soho House hotels and as usual the experience was first class. The staff are amazing, friendly and super attentive, from the greeting we received from Reed at reception to bar staff/waiters/odd job men.
The rooms are excellent, the food faultless and the interior of the lounge/bar area is fantastic.
In fact the lounge area is so cool it was hard work extracting oneself to get out into the city.
First class!!

Save up if you have to, but try and spend a couple of nights here when you're next in NYC. The room we stayed in was fantastic, staff will do almost anything for you. Loved our time here. The hotel is surrounded by great restaurants but with the superb food at Soho House, it's kinda hard to find reasons to leave

Room Tip: Get a medium or large room

We spent a day in the pool cooling off from the intense heat & loved the vibe here. There were quite a lot of British people there as well as New Yorkers & everyone was so friendly. Loved that its ok to drink & eat in the pool! It's my favourite Soho House.... Deffo going back next time!

It is hard to find the right words to describe this Hotel. It is more like a home than a hotel. We had a big room, which was huge and beautiful. The service is extra ordinary everybody is so friendly. The food is very good and what a luxury it is to have a rooftop pool. Breakfast & yoga on the rooftop were great. We traveled with our 14 year old daughter who was not allowed to be on the roof from 5 pm and on sunday,s from 1pm. Do not forget to take pictures in the foto booth across the hall from the restaruant.

My girlfriends and I booked the Playground Suite for a weekend away. Lovely service. Quick response for all our inquiries. Great location. We loved the space, furnishings and the layout. We enjoyed the little touches such as the yoga mat and extensive mini bar offerings. We loved the Cowshed toiletries product offered in the room. Sadly we have not been able to book a room as the hotel books up quickly. We found that we got a lot of space compared to other hotels priced in same range. Well worth it.

We were looking for a hotel with spacious, comfortable rooms and a central (mid/down town) location at Manhattan. Having tried the Soho House Berlin last year, we thought about trying Soho House also in New York, and we were happy that we did so.

We had a “big” room and the rate for such a lot of space was significantly lower than others that we checked. The huge bed was extremely comfortable, and so was the rollaway bed for our son. Next to the bed was a good sitting area, a small dining table and on the other side a great lounging chair and a desk. The large bathtub was just opposite the bed. In the bathroom there were double sinks and separate rooms for the loo and the very good shower. Lots of great Cowshed products to use during our stay and also fluffy towels and comfortable bathrobes. Plenty of storage space for our luggage (and we had a lot with us). Mini bar really well stocked.

Not so good was the air condition (very noisy and we did not figure out how to turn it off without calling technical assistance) and the TV (technical difficulties at some times, was being fixed but then suddenly it did not work again). I also would have preferred a larger bathroom with the bath tub in the bathroom instead of next to the bed, even if it was a fun thing.

Our room was in the 3rd floor far away from the elevator and we found it to be quiet. Of course some noise from the street some times, but this is NYC. We slept really well.

We did not eat many meals in the hotel, but had one breakfast, one dinner and some room service snacks. All tasty food and quickly delivered both in restaurant and in room. Friendly personnel.

Housekeeping was excellent, but they forgot our rooms at turn down a couple of times which should not happen. Also only some days they made up the rollaway bed.

Concierge and front desk very friendly and helpful, but one noticed that this is more of a club for members than a hotel, we some times did not feel recognized as guests and were asked to check in several times, also after having stayed there many days already.

Location brilliant, in the Meatpacking district close to restaurants and quite a number of nice shops, and a short taxi ride from the rest of the city.

We would stay again and recommend the hotel in spite of the issues we experienced. It is a nice home for us during our holidays in New York.
