“Fun and happening shopping place”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Lots of great places to eat, fun things to see and just take in the atmosphere of the market. It is very crowded and the lines for the bathrooms are out of control.

“Collage of Food”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Walking through Chelsea Market made me feel like I was watching one of the guys on Food/ Travel Channel. There wasn't any spectacular shows of animals being beheaded but there was such an array of smells and views that it was one of the highlights of our trip. There is cuisine to fit every appetite and some shopping to pass time before trying another eatery. Must admit, did the Travel Channel thing and ate at multiple places beyond my normal means so I could experience the quality of the restaurants. The favorites were the quesadillas at the mexican restaurant and the hot dog from the butchers.

This is a must do an would be good to combine with the Highline given their proximity. I will definitely make a point to get a bite to eat everytime I come to NYC.

“Busy but fun”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Don’t lose anyone in here, because you may never find them again. Fix a meeting point as you go in; the ‘fountain’ is central and unmissable, and there’s even a coffee stall next to it. It’s all frenetic, and it deserves to be frenetic, because it’s a good place with lots of food choices. Amy’s was my favourite, with their interesting vegetarian (and other) sandwiches, while my father loved the lobster place (lobster bisque, lobster rolls, actual lobsters packaged with butter and lemon).

Bag a table before starting the food quest, or you may be eating upright. We ate inside once, because of bad weather; otherwise, we took bagged food up to the Highline Park and found a table there (with a view over the Hudson). Lifts are at 14th and 16th Streets. You can then walk off your lunch, too. Or have a gelato from one of the Highline stalls.

There is a kitchen shop and a nice bookshop inside the Markets, and they do have some clothes and occasional clearance outlet alcoves, but it’s mostly produce – to eat now or cook later. Check out the lovely old stone seats.

“Breakfast at Friedman's”

Had a great American breakfast at Friedman's Lunch place. They have gluten free selections. Great omelettes and fresh juices. highly recommended to fuel up before walking the High Line.

“A little slice of heaven !”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Stoping in the Chelsea Market is something that should be high on your list, especially if you are a foodie like my wife and I. This trip was with our teenagers in tow and they enjoyed it too. You can eat, snack, shop, and just walk around and enjoy the market for hours. Don't miss it !
