Dear Enzo4040,

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re thrilled with your compliments and will pass them along to Chris and the rest of our team. It’s true, our location is rich with renowned shopping and dining. Did you have a chance to taste the brunch at The Chester, down in the lobby? The waffles will keep you coming back for more! We hope to see you again soon!

Stayed for 2 nights with my wife. Great hip hotel, hip location away from hustle bustle of midtown shopping but $12 cab ride / 2 stop subway from penn station (Madison square garden). Special consideration for Chris Richardson at the front desk, chris helped considerably to organise our shopping trip to Soho and general planning around NYC. thanks Chris!

We had a wonderful stay at the Gansevoort in NYC. The hotel is in the heart of the trendy meat-packing district, surrounded by cobblestone streets and creative restaurants. The hotel itself is tastefully done: modern, yet comfortable. The rooms were spacious, and offered a great view of the snowy city.

The staff at the hotel was excellent, from the front desk clerk to the concierge, who graciously printed theater tickets from StubHub. I was particularly impressed by Chris Richardson, who welcomed us, offered a number of tips for things to do in the city, and embodied the highest standard of customer service.

I look forward to staying at this hotel again on my next trip, and am happy to recommend it to anyone traveling to Manhattan.

Loved this hotel. Booking process was slick and seamless thanks to Talia. Check in was quick. Loved the vibe and stylish feel of the hotel. Location sensational. The concierge and front door team are what stood out for me (especially Raoul). Always smiling rain or shine and there to open the door, help with umbrellas, get a cab and help with directions and local recommendations. Room was on 6th floor and spotlessly clean. Beds and linen heavenly. With only one exception the staff were all so accommodating.....the male reception person on check out seemed to be very disinterested and was very arrogant.

However there were a few things in the service department that need tightening up. Firstly, a mug of hot water took 30 mins to arrive from in room dining and of the 3 times we ordered mugs of hot water for tea with milk and sugar, twice the sugar was forgotten and once we got honey not milk! A little bit more care is required in my opinion.

Dodgy electrics meant the hair dryer and irons didn't work in our rooms (we thought the appliances were faulty but we later realized it was actually the electrics) which was frustrating and a bit of a worry.

In general a great hotel but very expensive and the extras added up (2 mugs of hot water for us to add our own tea bags were $20 - why not provide a kettle and or coffee machine in rooms?)

A few tweaks and this place would be 5 stars. Please thank the door team for being the highlight of our stay.

Room Tip: 6th floor was good for views and quietness.

We had spent a few nights at the Eventi in New York before arriving at the Gansevoort. We had a terrible experience with their customer service.

First we had issues with their attitude, we arrived before check in was available, but just wanted to drop off our suitcases and get out to see more of NEW YORK! It was the end of the world to ask this of the hotel... plus we wanted to get something out of our suitcase quickly... Eyes were rolling and we did not feel very welcome.

The guy who checked us in advised me that he would send me an email once our room was ready, I am still waiting for that email.

We get to our room, nice big spacious. No WIFI, call the desk, they were going to send an "engineer" up. Over an hour and no "engineer". We called again, no apology, just the same message that the "engineer" will be up. Third an final time, went down to the desk and we are STILL waiting for the "engineer to arrive.

The WIFI seemed to work everywhere but in our room (worked in the hallway and lobby). So in the morning we requested to change rooms, we ended up in the SMALLEST room possible.

We used the day spa in the basement of the hotel. Had to talk US politics with the lady who gave me the massage. Also was given a locker in the mens change room.... The locker was locked but had some one elses gear in there! Great security! The lady behind the desk also just barged into the mens change room, luckily there was only one other gentleman who was dressed in there.

Would not recommend the Gansevoort, there are FAR better places to stay in New York.
A little bit of customer service would make this place FAR BETTER! And it wasn't a tipping thing.... money didn't talk either! Trust me I TRIED!

The Meatpacking District is, in my opinion, the best area to stay when visiting New York City. It's close to the High Line, great restaurants and bars and the overall vibe of the area is buzzy and fun.

The Hotel Gansevoort is trying to fit into this type of area but falls short. Bright colours is not what makes a great hotel. The service was slow and unfriendly, we waited two hours after check-in time to get our room. The rooms are small and really need attention, the furniture is falling apart and the bathrooms are awful. This is not five star, it barely makes 4 star. The rooftop bar is nice and has great views, the food is good but don't do the breakfast, it's not worth the money and there are plenty of places around the hotel you can eat at.

Now, this is not a hotel where you go to sleep, this seems like a party hotel. Every night there were doors slamming, people yelling and loud music playing.

Would I stay here again? Probably not. I was looking forward to staying at this hotel and it was a total let down.

Dear Jennifer B,

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sincerely disappointed your trip to New York City wasn’t what you hoped it would be. We take your feedback to heart and will inform our team of your dissatisfaction. We are in the process of renovating our hotel one step at a time. Perhaps you would prefer our midtown location – Gansevoort Park Avenue. It's newer and away from the Meatpacking District's bustling nightlife. It's also near the Flatiron District and renowned restaurants such as Craft and ABC Kitchen. If you stay with us again (at either locations), we’ll point you towards other popular dining destinations in the area. Please contact digital@theghg.com with questions or further concerns. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Gansevoort Meatpacking
