“Best Hotel in NYC”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

We chose the Mandarin Oriental largely because of its great location - a few minutes walk from 5th ave. We didn't know that that was just the beginning of what it had to offer. The rooms are spacious, luxurious, and well furnished including the bathrooms which were quite impressive. The views from our room were stunning, overlooking central park. The service here is king, including room service, concierge, and the bar. The restaurant was also very majestic, and the food was awesome!

One of the best hotels in Manhattan, superb quality of the rooms and services. Stayed there for 3 nights and enjoyed everything, although the time was limited due to the activities in the city.
Bit expensive but it is surely worth.

The guest rooms begin on the 38th floor of this hotel. Our room was on the 51st. It was quiet by NYC standards. We had beautiful views of Central Park and the Hudson because we had a corner suite, the suite was nicely appointed, the bathroom was spacious, the bed was comfortable. The hotel also has a junior Olympic swimming pool. There is a Whole Food Market in the Time Warner Center next door, and a great place for breakfast, Bouchon, also in the TWC, which has both a bakery cafe and to go counter. We really enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: The hotel offers discounts to ABA members.

We took our 11 year old daughter for a birthday weekend celebration and the Mandarin rocked. Not only did they provide the highest level of service at every juncture, they even delivered a wonderful gift to our room. Concierge is fabulous. Food is sublime. Spa clean and pool awesome. A huge FAN!!!

My mom and friend and I went to the lobby bar for a cocktail after dinner. A coworker had recommended it to me because of the great view of NYC. The lobby is on the 35th floor and the lobby bar has floor to ceiling windows. The team in the 2 bars were unbelievably gracious and kind. Christina (hostess) went the extra mile to ensure that we were comfortable and had a table with a lovely view. Richie (bartender) was so welcoming even though he was closing in a few minutes when we got there. He asked us to please take our time. He overheard that it was my birthday and surprised me with complimentary chocolate covered strawberries and a candle! So thoughtful. I had the Heavenly Hibiscus cocktail and it was phenomenal. Thomas (Manager) made a point to stop by our table and check to make sure we were happy. My friend was wearing jeans and we were concerned that it would be a problem. It wasn't at all! We had such a positive experience. I would recommend this beautiful bar and hotel to anyone!

The Mandarin Oriental is conveniently located on Columbus Circle. This makes access to shopping on 5th Avenue easy (10 minute walk) and of course is a stone’s throw from the bottom of Central Park. I stayed in a “Hudson River View” room. The view was lovely and the bedroom and its facilities were comfortable and above average. I loved the large bathroom and the orange packaged products. The Asiate Restaurant is good for breakfast and offers some very nice views. The lobby lounge has a great atmosphere in the evening (enjoyed sipping on champagne there!). Staff went out of their way service wise and were always courteous and helpful. I arrived at 09h00 after two long flights from Johannesburg and arranged an early check in with no effort. I was most impressed when in error I cashed a $500 travellers cheque thinking it was a $50! I had absolutely no problem sorting this out when I discovered it the next day. I can highly recommend this hotel.
