The location of the hotel was fantastic, just a block away from the Flatiron Building (and the nearby cafes and shops), a few blocks from Penn Station and very close to the 6th Ave. subway. Everything in the hotel was satisfactory. It wasn't luxurious or trendy, but it was a good deal for the price. The cleaning staff was kind and sweet, especially to my elderly mother. I would definitely stay there again.
A couple of small suggestions for the management:
1. The curtains were long enough to cover the heating vents, which means that the hot air was going up the curtain and not into the room. You could save on electricity bills if you shortened the curtains a little.
2. We sometimes waited a long time for the elevator, usually because an employee was transporting laundry or cleaning equipment. Could one of the two elevators be designated "guests only" and the other one be used by both guests or employees?

My husband and I got stuck in New York City because of bad weather. We were so glad to be able to find a Hampton Inn with an available room, as we couldn'g get another flight for two days. The Manhattan/Chelsea Hampton Inn is an older hotel, but still stood up to all of the Hampton Inn's we have stayed in. It was very cold in the city and because of this, we had a hard time getting the room as warm as we would have liked it. Other than that, this hotel was fine. We would like to go back when the weather is better so that we can check out the Chelsea area.

Best location in Manhattan (from a native NY'er). Everything is either a 15 minute subway ride or a little longer of a walk. The hotel and staff were great! A refrigerator was provided at no cost and breakfast is on the house every morning! If you work out on vacation this will be a disappointment. The room provided is very small even for NYC standards IMO. All in all, since the rates have become more reasonable for some reason, this will be my go to hotel when I visit.

Our family of four enjoyed our stay. We loved the warm cookies and hot cider, the breakfast was ample every morning and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our son left his "game" puck from the Islander game we had visited the night before. The gentleman working in the Breakfast area recognized us and asked is we had lost a hickey puck, we hadn't even realized we had left it. He promptly returned it, you don;t find many placed with this type of attention to detail. We traveled with our handicapped son, so the location was great, only about 6-7 blocks from Penn Station. The only complaint were getting a Taxi. There is no doorman and the Front Desk won't call for taxis.

The room was clean & 'tight' -- but normal by NYC standards. LOL. The service was great!! Everyone was very attentive, accomodating, helpful, & friendly. It was conveniently located near our early morning destination.

The Hampton was the perfect location for us. The room was fine, breakfast was great, the staff was terrific, and the price was fabulous for New York City. We would definitely come back to the hotel in our future trips to NYC.

My friend and I stayed here for four nights in December (over Christmas) and both had mixed, but generally positive feelings about the hotel. Pros: the hotel is close to the 23rd street subway station, and only a $10-15 cab ride from the Theater District and Times Square, the bed was enormous and very comfortable, there was free wi-fi in the room and complimentary breakfast included. Cons: the walls are thin and there is space under door so you hear EVERYTHING, down to your neighbors quietest 2 a.m. hallway whispers. I slept atrociously, but again, can't fault the location or the amenities, and it's great value for money. Unfortunately, we'd just come from two long-haul flights (Sydney - Honolulu, Honolulu - New York) and were in sore need of some peace and quiet.
