Hard to believe that I have not been to this zoo before but finally visited with our young kids recently. It was such a pleasant surprise! It is small but the layout is great and the enclosures are spacious. The highlights in the big zoo are the sea lions, penguins and polar bear. We went on a sunny Sunday and it was not too crowded so kids could get up close and see the animals. The Children's Zoo was also very cute and was included in the ticket. Finally never thought I'd write this sentence...but the Dora 4-D movie is worth the ticket price. It was super fun.
The kids loved it. It is small enough to ger round it in half a day and big enough to make you feel like you've seen all species to be found on the planet! We got there right in time for the feeding of the see lions. The place is very clean and the animals look in good shape. We'll definitely go back there again!
Something to do with kids for a few hours while in Manhattan. A small, manageable zoo. If you are looking for a big zoo, go to the Bronx zoo, but if you want to see a variety of animals like reptiles and monkeys, go here.
Although quite small for a zoo and only have limited animals, this zoo is conveniently located in the Central Park precinct. The cafetaria near the admission served good variety of food (love their vegetarian panini). Bathrooms facilities are relatively clean. Overall was a good experience even for grown-ups like us two.
