“Great Bar, Awful Management”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2012

Michael, the manager there has to go and quick! Went there on a Friday afternoon for happy hour, with plans to stay for dinner with a group of 6 people. Had a great time at the bar, our bartender was named April and she was fantastic. Things took a massive nosedive from there.

We had reservations for 6 for 7:30 pm. We were all there by 6:30, hanging out at the bar and ran up a nice tab. At 7:0, we checked on our table, and were told it was not ready. After checking 3 more times, we were not seated till 8:15, a full 45 min after a reservation we made a week in advance. After we sat down, we could not find a waiter for another 20 min. It was now past 8:30 and we asked to speak to the manager.

Michael, the manager, appeared and proceeded to argue, stating that thevreason we were not seated on time was because our whole party was not there at 7:30, which was absolutely not true. When we told him he was not stating the facts, he said the computer told him we we're seated at 7:48 pm, another blatant lie.

Michael was rude, obstinate and the cliche that gives New Yorkers a bad name, and I lived in NYC for 7 years in TriBeCa and UES so I know what I speak of in this case. This is an adorable bar that has great potential but the management does not understand that arguing with customers who spend 3 hours at the bar and are prepared to stay for dinner with a group of 6, is not the way to make money and attract repeat customers.

Go grab a drink at the bar but don't stay to be abused by clueless, insolent management and waitstaff.

“Unique Drink Menu”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2012

My wife wanted to try this spot after living in Hawaii for three years and not being able to find authentic food in NYC. We were very excited to see Poke on the menu. Upon receiving the drinks, their presentation is great and the drinks seem very strong, but then you realize that there is an abundance of ice chips making the drink very small and like a snow cone. Over all the taste of their drinks is amazing with their own concoctions of sugars and spices. The appetizers were good with one exception of the fish taco, the Red Snapper gave it a very fishy flavor, but the dish as a whole was amazing. The entrees were outstanding, just a little small on the portions, but on the other hand every element on the plate was bursting with its own textures and flavors. I wouldn't regular the place for dinner, but would highly recommend dinner there.

“A chill place, would definitely come back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2012

Came here on a recent Friday night, took advantage of the drinks during happy hour prices. The Pacific Swizzle was like liquid candy. The Bearded Lady was too bitter. The Peru pisco sour had too strong of a cloves flavor.

Ordering 4 appetizer makes it a pu pu platter. It doesn't mean a discount just that it comes in a spinning tray with a flame in the center. We tried the very good okonomiyaki and huli huli yakitori with the very delicious loco moco. I wish the lococ moco was more larger in size.

For our entrees, I went with the Kalua pork (delicious), my friends ordered the prawns and sea bass (a bit rubbery).

There were only 2 options for desserts and we got them both--a very tiny portion of pineapple upside down cake and poi doughnuts.
