“Good night out”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

Great bands, cheap beer, fun games, there's really nothing else you can ask for. The only complaint is it gets crowded and it is hard to get to the bar some times. The bar is well staffed so you usually dont wait super long. $3 cover is worth the live music!

“Great night out, but expect to wait for a table”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

Always an epic night when spent here with friends!

If you haven't been here in awhile they added 2 more shuffleboard tables in the back corner in place of a pool table, which me and my friends are very thankful for. There are not many bars with shuffleboard in and around NYC.

There is one thing that does get a little annoying. If you do not come here early enough to grab a table when its not busy be prepared to wait.

They only serve small snacks here, but if your stomach is screaming for a little more sustenance you can order some pizza from across the street and bring it in.

The reason why its getting 4 stars instead of the 5 is because of their upkeep of the ticket number system. When the bar gets extra busy the employees forget about the empty game tables and have to reminded often by patrons to change the numbers.

“You can't go wrong with $5”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

Love this place. Cover is just $5 per person most of the time, and you get to enjoy live jazz music by a couple of ensembles or more a night, plus pay-to-pay foosball table, ping pong, chess, etc. A really fun place!

“Crowded, Crazy Fun ”
Reviewed October 6, 2013 via mobile

Saturday night near NYU and this place was jumping! Three dollar cover - three dollar beers -live Jazz that was fantastic - so much fun!

This bar has ping pong tables, pool tables, every table has chess or checker boards and many people were playing games of all sorts.

They have couches for watching the band - and that was a nice touch!

I definitely can see why this is so popular!

“The Strangest Venur for Jazz”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We heard a wonderful young quartet recently at the Fat Cat, lead by pianist Adam Birnbaum. They played mostly new original music, 7 recently composed songs, some with only working titles, and one standard, in a 90 minute set. Big old couches looked onto the stage. Behind the couches were the games: pool tables, ping pong tables, some kind of shuffle board game we are unfamiliar with, as well as boards for chess and scrabble. There were about a dozen or so people trying to listen to the jazz and about 40 or so more people playing the games. It was very strange. But the jazz was very good and we'd love to hear them again in a more appropriate setting.
