Booking this hotel was a big mistake...very very touristic, slow parking, expensive parking, slow reception, slow elevators, old rooms. Do your self a favor and stay away from this unfriendly and over-ratted hotel.

Room Tip: There is no, construction all around you...

We stayed there 4 years ago but we must have been thinking about another hotel because this time it was a bit of a disappointment. We picked this hotel because we rememered that it was very close to ground zero which it was. There was no disappointment there. From our room we had a gorgeous aerial view of both memorials. We also had a great view of the Hudson River and tthe city. The parking attendant was fantastic in his service delivery. Here is our disapointment: there was no wi-fi in the room unless you bought it, if you wanted wi-fi you had to go to the lobby; there was ONE bar of soap in the bathroom (most hotel have one at the sink and one in the shower), the concierge had a very stand-offish air about him and never smiile, not inviting at all. For a four star hotel, the service and amenties were lacking a bit.

The counter staff was professional and the location could not be better but those are the only advantage of the hotel. Upon entering the room, some skunk smell were filling. The beds were for the kids. Some staff at breakfast restaurant were so rude as to touch my body.

We were here for the location and it was perfect. If you want to view the World Trade Center Memorial Site, there is no better way than from our room...a corner suite on the top floor. Of course there is more to see otherwise from this height. Great views. The suite was very nice and very comfortable. Staff was absolutely excellent.

Room Tip: Go for the higher floors for the views

Thanks Alex, you made the stay magnificent. The hotel is as amazing as it was when I stayed back in 2004 or so, receive an amazing suite on the 52nd floor. It was huge - not just for NYC standards but for anything - was around 900 Sq Ft with 2 bathrooms, 6 seat dining table, etc. The breakfast were excellent each morning, the housekeeping was superb, the front desk staff were really really nice and helpful. I liked the gym and the swimming pool which is a rare commodity for NYC. The location is great close to public transport, and opposite Century 21. I was a bit hesitant whether to stay in Lower Manhattan or Midtown. I've stayed at many Hilton Family properties in NYC - Hilton Garden Inn Chelsea, various Doubletrees (including Downtown Financial District), Hampton Inn around 35th and Times Square North, Hilton Times Square, Hilton Midtown, Hilton Garden Inn Times Square, etc, etc and have to say this hotel is definitely the top in the Hilton family. There is free printing in the lobby. Yes it doesn't have an executive lounge but it makes up in other ways. The only thing i'd say to improve things would be:
1/ Give diamonds complimentary hot breakfast!
2/ Keep the smoked salmon on weekends, not just midweek for breakfast
3/ Put some more anti-bacterial fluid in the gym (was empty for the whole stay)
4/ Be nice if the pool was open between 130pm-5pm on weekdays - but understand there is a cost to this and no-one uses it much
5/ Replace the complimentary bottled water in the guest rooms each day

But these are just minor service matters, the hotel is amazing hopefully some helpful additional constructive feedback to make the property even more amazing. Thanks again.

Room Tip: Go for a junior suite for the small upgrade fee, ideally looking uptown to get a great view of the e...

Was here for a conference and stayed another few days to vacation. The conference rooms were adequate, but the food offered was below average. Breakfast consisted of eggs which were apparently made from adding liquid to powder. (The server told a colleague of mine when she complained they were watery). Lunch was plain arugula and pizza which tasted like frozen pizza. Perhaps this has more to do with the conference company rather than the hotel.

The overall location is ok. Very close to the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, Staten Island Ferry, Financial District, and next to the 9/11 Memorial. Unfortunately, it is 11 subway stops to the Met and Natural History Museum, and I believe 8 stops to Central Park. We took a cab at night and it was $22. We were able to walk to TriBeCa, China Town, Soho.

I've stayed at this hotel three times in the past few years, always for special occasions.. this time it was to celebrate my 30th birthday. Having stayed here in the past I was sure I had nothing to worry about. When we arrived, we were told the city view room I had booked was not available, but they had upgraded us to a junior suite. We stayed in a junior suite before, and the view was great so we didn't mind at all. Then we got to the room on the 31st floor, and the view was not so great- the hotel is over 50 stories, so the view up there is much, much better. I was a little disappointed, because I was hoping for a very glamorous view.. but we couldn't even see the Empire state building as so many taller buildings were in front.
We tried to use the pool before we went out for the evening, and we got down there at 9pm, only to see a sign that said the pool was closed early due to low chlorine levels- although the hallway reeked of chlorine. Another disappointment.
The room itself was nice- clean and spacious. But you could tell it wasn't completely maintained- there was signs of age and wear allover the room and even the hallways. The bathroom was clean, but there were some hairs that were not ours in the tub, which is always gross. There was no noise from the outside, only the inside, where you could all the squeaks, creaks and groans, as there was no fan setting on the central air. So there was no white noise to mask the little sounds you hear in hotels. The problem with that was that the A/C was super strong and then it got way too cold. Even though the bed was comfortable, it was not a great night's sleep.
On the plus side, the hotel does have an excellent location close to the Path station for people coming from NJ, and it's also close to a few subway stations. Also, of course, it's close to loads of shopping and eating- head north of the hotel for the best food (make a right once you get out front and just walk straight up). Ideal location for exploring downtown- the Financial district, Battery Park, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island- you can do it all in one day and then get back to the room in 10 mins and then enjoy the nightlife in Tribeca or even midtown ( by subway or cab).

For the price I paid, I would not recommend staying here, unless it was perhaps a standard or deluxe room for a very good rate.. for now, skip the suites. It's a good hotel, it just needs some TLC and attention to detail.

Room Tip: request a high floor
