“Great hotel, excellent location!”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

I stayed here with my 18 year old son and his best friend. They were attending the NFL Draft and the location could not have been better! Both of our rooms were a decent size and very clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. The prices of drinks in the hotel bars are outrageous, even for NYC. But overall, we had a great stay and will definitely be back!

I took my mom to NYC as a Mother's Day gift for 4 days/3 nights. I spent 2 weeks researching this trip and looked up many hotels. The Midtown Hyatt was one of the least expensive and definitely the best deal. We arrived by train at Penn Station. It was a first time visit to the Big Apple for both of us. The hotel is close to the train station as well as the subway and right around the corner from Macy's at Herald Square! Check in was a breeze and the front desk staff could not have been any nicer. We were given a free room upgrade and our room was amazing. Clean and comfy. The view from our beds was the Empire State building. We slept like babies which for me isn't easy to do. I have had 3 lumbar back surgeries since 12/2010 and how I was going to sleep was a concern. The elevators were not a problem for us and we met the cleaning staff more the once. They were friendly and very helpful with supplying us with whatever we needed for our room. We enjoyed the free breakfast- as my mom commented- with real silverware and dishes :) The food was good and the coffee fantastic. After running around seeing as much as we could see everyday- returning to the Midtown Hyatt was a joy. We will be staying at the Midtown Hyatt again.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper room on the south side!

NYC Hotels are expensive so we obtained the Hyatt Chase Credit Card and stayed at this property free for 3 nights (using multiple individual free nights). This is a deal ... check it out !!

This is a newly opened property so everything was in excellent condition. It's the perfect location for short travel time to Lower Manhattan or the Upper West Side. There are nice bars and restaurants close with the world's largest Macy's only 2 blocks away. For those Victoria Secret Fans there is a very large store across from Macy's that has an awesome "Pink" section with many New York items that are far cuter than the basic NYC items you'll find every 5 feet throughout the city.

Our group really loved this property ... we were lucky to receive a view room on the 22nd floor looking directly at the Empire State Building ... what a view !! Our room was quite large for New York and the amenities were great. The complimentary breakfast area is very nice with a wide variety of options that should satisfy anyone.

Regarding the Hyatt Staff at this property ... We LOVED Paulina and all the staff at the front desk ... these young adults always had a smile on their face and were helpful with all our questions. It really does make a difference when you are greeted and responded to nicely. Hyatt Management is extremely fortunate to have this staff ... so please don't forget to reward them for all the nice reviews !!

Room Tip: View Rooms on the 22nd Floor facing Empire State Building are amazing !!

My husband and I enjoyed our weekend stay. Good location - the subway station is around the corner. Easy access to most of Manhattan. Just opened not long ago. The rooms/public areas were modern, clean. They are on the small side but that is typical in New York. Not a lot of frills but it has everything you need. The breakfast was very good, hot items (eggs, toast, pancakes, sausage, etc.) along w/cold (cereal, fruit, yogurt, etc.) The egg sandwiches served weekdays were especially tasty! The business center in the lobby w/computer access was handy as was the free Wi-Fi. There is a small seating area out front and a good restaurant next door for a quick bite.

Very friendly, helpful staff. They were very accommodating. Maria in housekeeping went above and beyond. She helped me with not one, but two trips to bring breakfast up to the room. They also accommodated us when we requested to be moved to a higher floor due to noise. When we asked for information that the gentleman at the front desk did not know, he made a point to find it and contact us with it.

In reading previous reviews, we initially chose a room on the second floor which faced front to avoid long elevator wait time. This was a mistake! You could hear people talking outside all hours, traffic was much louder than on a higher floor. We requested a room on a higher floor and were moved to the 24th floor. This was much better. You could still hear traffic but nothing like before. The elevator wait was not a problem. Of course there was one but no more than a few minutes.

Overall, it was a good stay. We would definitely come back.

Room Tip: Rooms on the lower floors facing front are very noisy. Go for a higher floor or one in the back.

I feel this is a typical NYC hotel. The one good thing going for it right now is that it's almost brand new so the room and bathroom are still in excellent condition. We did have the complimentary breakfast the hotel offered, and it was just average. Eggs were horrendous (powdered?). They offer breads and pastries, fruit, juices, hot and cold cereal, breakfast sausage and pancakes. Coffee was good. We drove in from Long Island, and the hotel has a deal with a parking garage on the same block. I would stay here again, but it was not cheap.

Room Tip: we chose a higher floor (we were on floor 25) for a view, but the only thing we saw were the roofs o...

We stayed here Saturday thru Tuesday and could not say enough about the hotel and staff. Service was beyond what you would expect. They were so friendly and geniuely nice here. It is close to the subway and easy access to alot of things. Bar/restaurant across the street, shopping very close and they give you breakfast in the morning included with your stay. Not the cheap donut and rolls but Hot delicious meal. Anyone traveling will like this place.

I enjoyed my stay at this location in New York. It was very close to where I do business and really enjoyed that. The room was cozy and clean! The staff were very friendly and inviting! The only thing that wasn't my favorite was the food. It's ok but not my favorite and I don't understand why if you order food they can't just bring it up to the room. You have to go to the lobby to get it. Elevators do get pretty crowded in the mornings too!
Overall it was nice and I would definitely go back! The restaurant next door has really good salads, soups, sandwiches and pastas!
