“In town for wedding, convenient for downtown events”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

We were in town for a wedding and this was one of the recommended places to stay. It was close to the subway which was handy for us. We were able to walk to the 9-11 memorial, to Chinatown and across the Bklyn Bridge. The hotel is quiet - we were on the 4th floor. Our room had 2 double beds, a safe, and a fridge in a cabinet. We wished that there was more storage for our clothing - there were only 2 small drawers in a cabinet. The continental bkft was unexpected, but certainly is a nice perk. The only issue we had was that the carpet on the floor was wet and the hotel staff determined that a pipe from the ac unit was not connected. They connected it and came up again the next day to double-check.

We picked up a room at the Wall Street Inn for a pretty good price and were impressed with the hotel. We found the hotels location to be good - It's in a quiet lane a few blocks from the stock exchange and is close to subway stations, so easy enough to get around Manhattan. It's also right next to stone street where there are a bunch of good restaurants and pubs.

Room came with a continental breakfast which was good and very convenient.

Would recommend this hotel if you don't mind a subway ride to get back from midtown.

The Wall Street Inn is ideally situated for browsing around the harbour, Ellis Island etc. and for transport to other areas. The rooms are bigger than expected, very comfortable (free upgrade to kingsize for us) and the continental breakfast is excellent. Our only disappointment was the poor wifi service in our room; we could only access it from the landing or lobby.

We stayed at the Wall Street Inn from Saturday, August 11th, to Monday, August 13th. We booked a room with a queen bed through Hotels.com, but I called two days before and asked for a room with a king bed, and they graciously obliged. The room was a decent size, the bathroom was very large, and overall, the decor was very nice. The free wi-fi was great. I love the downtown area, so the Wall Street Inn was a perfect location for us, particularly since we spent Saturday evening at a bar on Stone Street around the corner. They let us check in early when we arrived on Saturday, too. Our room overlooked the alley between Stone and Williams streets, so no great view, but there were also no problems with noise. Overall, we'd definitely stay here again.

This hotel would be ideal for a business trip (if you need to be in the wall st area) as it's right in the heart of the financial district, offers free parking on the street outside (although this is limited and not entirely secure), has great wifi and room service.
However, if you are looking to explore NYC this really is not the ideal location. It is a 20 minute taxi ride ($20) taxi ride from Times Sq. Upon catching cabs from Times Sq, Manhatten and Chelsea, we found that most taxi drivers were not entirely sure where the hotel/street even was!
Besides this, the hotel itself is very outdated and not entirely well kept. The lobby had quite a strong smell of old curtains, whilst our pillows and bed sheets felt damp and smelt awful. The windows overlooking the street from our room were practically useless given that it looked as though they had not been cleaned for decades.
Despite the cheap price for this hotel, i would strongly recommend paying a little more for a central hotel (you'll make up for it with what you save in taxi fares) which smells nice.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your recent review of The Wall Street Inn. We are actively involved with customer feedback as it allows us to hear from our customers on issuses that they might not otherwise share with us. We are truly surpised to learn of your oppinion on the hotel's maintenance and regret that you felt challenged by our location on the very souther tip of the island of Manhattan.

We take great pride and care of our product despite being located in a historic building built in 1929 and ensure the comfort of our guests throghout the year especially in the moisture rich months of July and August by running very effective and adequate HVAC equipment.

Once again thank you for choosing to stay with us; we know that you have many options for accommodations in New York City.

We stayed at the Wall Street Inn on July 31 - Aug 2 2012 and found it to be just above average place for a family NYC stay. I go to NYC on business quite a bit and so I have stayed in many hotels there - this is however my first trip with my family. Arrival and check in was really easy and our room was on an upper floor overlooking the cobble "Stone Street" below which has a lot of great quaint little restaurants on it. It was a quiet room no matter what was going on downstairs.
One bad strike was our room was smelly - it had a sour smell that never went away. You got used to it after being in the room for a bit but it was a definite bummer. The room was super clean and pretty roomy for a NYC hotel. We had a paper each morning and the in room coffee was a good brand and the hotel provides real cream not the powdered stuff - I liked that.
I had to ask for fresh glasses on our second evening but I thing the cleaning person just forgot to take our used drinking glasses leave us new ones. No biggie - I called and more were brought up. I like the fact that they provided glass instead of plastic.
The A/C worked well but I had to have maintenance come and turn it down low because we couldn't get it to come on when we arrived.
The only other thing I would be aware of at this hotel is location location location. It is WAY down there and often the 2/3 subway is on express and doesn't stop at Wall street so make sure you don't get on an express train because it will go to Brooklyn or you will have to get off early and walk.
The continental breakfast is very nice - VERY helpful if you are traveling with kids.
Beds are great.
I would recommend to a friend and might stay there again.

Room Tip: get an upper floor room facing Stone Street

Just returned from a two night weekend stay. Hotel recommended in a national magazine and Trip Advisor. The weekend rates of 15% off gave us a nightly rate of $169 before tax. We checked in at 1 PM, not expecting to have a room ready. We had asked to be on the S Williams St side given reviews on this site about possible noise issues on the Stone St. side. The desk clerk apologized and said that no rooms were available on S Williams side, but she had given us a free upgrade to the 7th (top) floor where we would have no noise issues.
We were amazed to find a huge king room (we paid for a queen) with a sofa, dining table and several armchairs. More like a suite, really. The bathroom had been completely remodeled and was also huge. We could not believe this was a NYC hotel.Bathroom is all marble with a deep, deep whirlpool tub, which is an excellent way to soothe those tired feet that have walked miles around the city. Also a great shower.
The hall smelled a bit musty as did the room at first, but they had put a dehumidifier in there, so by the evening, it was much better. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was silent. Not a bit of noise. There were approx 6 rooms on the floor so we also had no noise from the hallway.
Beyond the terrific room, there are many other things to like. The desk clerk, Lisa, was very helpful and polite. The 24 hour delicious coffee and superb pastries were a complete surprise. Three or four different fresh pastries--cinammon, hamantashen, chocolate-were so tempting and always available. Such a nice touch. The dining room was very cozy and home like.
The location was superb, as mentioned previously. Both the 5 min walk to multiple subways and the 10 min walk to Battery Park and the esplanade-a very wide walkway which runs along the river for beautiful city views, flowers, riverside eateries. One of the highlights was watching the torch light up at sunset on the Statue of Liberty across the river. You could hop on the Staten Island Ferry right there or rent bikes. I am not a big fan of crowded city walking, so this natural beauty was so welcomed. We also walked easily to the 9/11 memorial and the neighborhood felt very safe. We didn't eat in the neighborhood, but certainly had many options out our back door.
Positives: huge room on 7th floor
Great coffee and pastries 24 hours
Location, location, location
Cozy home like atmosphere
Safe area
Negatives: Breakfast selection could be healthier--Too many sugary cereals. Some plain bran cereals or oatmeal would be welcomed. Oranges and bananas appreciated and good bagels.
Although there is a business center, the night clerk told my husband it would cost $5 for him to use the computer to look up a restaurant. That seems unecessary. I was able to check in for my flight for free, though. The male night clerk was not at all friendly.
My son may be living in NY in the future, so this is going to be our hotel from now on. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Room Tip: Seventh floor was extremely quiet. If there is any way you can get room 703, it was huge!! Warning...
