Owner description: Once is the celebrated new musical based on the Academy Award-winning film. It tells the story of an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, their unexpected friendship and collaboration evolves into a powerful but complicated romance, heightened by the raw emotion of the songs they create together. Brought to the stage by an award-winning team of visionary artists and featuring an ensemble cast of gifted actor/musicians, once is a musical celebration of life and love: thrilling in its originality, daring in its honesty... and unforgettable in every way.

What I loved about this musical is that they entertain you from the moment you enter the theater. The cast is on the stage singing before the show starts. If you've seen the movie then you know this is a small sweet story - not a blockbuster

We saw 3 shows while in NYC last week and this was, by far, the best one. Can't say enough for the acing and the music. Many folks around us were "touched" by the story and we heard more than a few folks weeping!!

I hadn't heard or read much about Once, so I didn't have high expectations...but this show wowed me! The music is fabulous, the accents great, good dancing, and a good storyline. Get to the show early so that you can go on stage and buy a drink from the stage tavern, you can also do this during intermission. Once is also in a very nice theater -- on the smaller side, which is nice. I hope more people experience Once. You won't be disappointed!

This was a great show--the story, believeable, the dancing terrific, the accents, spot on, but the best part was the music and the musicians--they brought together Irish and Czech music to an amazing blend. The songs are with me three weeks later. Plus, you have a drink with the cast and a little session of tunes on stage before the performance.

I had seen the movie " Once" and thought it had merit, so decided to see the musical while in New York. The beginning was quite clever in that they invited the audience on stage to have a drink at the staged tavern, while they played Irish songs. Then the audience was ushered off stage, the music continued, and you realized that the play was in progress. Clever.

Unfortunately, it was downhill from there on out. The story line was thin and thus had to be drawn out in order to fill the two hours. The music, besides one song, was boring and, uninspired. the singing voices were mediocre. All in all, nothing stood out as remarkable in any way.
