We loved the location,it is within walking distance to many area tourist attractions. Broadway was only a few blocks from the hotel. The continental breakfast
Has a lot of variety.
Rooms are small but enough space to have a great sleep.

We went to NYC not expecting much from the hotel as we knew star ratings were different than Europe. This hotel was first class!! Breakfast was an array of cereals, eggs, breads, sweets, juices, everything you could ask for. Rooms lovely and immaculate and spacious for New York! Extremely comfy beds which are useful after a day on your feet. Very central and easy access to all the main sites. Will definitely stay here the next time I go.

This hotel is in a good location, easy to drive in from the Henry Hudson, a short walk to Park Avenue, near Times Square and Bryant Park.

The lobby is well maintained and nicely decorated for the holidays with a single serve coffee machine that made a surprisingly good cup. Elevators were slow, free wifi was fast. The room was somewhat clean but with plenty of lighting plus an iPhone docking station alarm. There is a room safe. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were not but that tends to be a personal thing. We didn't try the continental breakfast.

This is the second apple core hotel we have stayed at for our Christmas trip to New York and like the other (Ramada NY Eastside), the main deficiency is the web site directions to the affiliated parking garage. The web site refers you to a Resource Parking, when in fact the place is called Icon Parking. When I called the front desk to find out where Resource Parking was now located as all I saw was a sign for Icon Parking, I was told in a snotty voice that they are the same company. Given that Icon Parking is a chain all over NYC but I never saw a single sign saying Resource Parking, I question why on earth they wouldn't put the name from the sign on the web site. I suggest, given the repeated problems with finding the parking garages referred to on the apple core web site, that they rent the web site designer a car for the week and make the person park following the directions given from the web site. Seriously, this one thing has made me consider not trying another hotel in this chain, it needs to be addressed.

I stayed December 7-9, 2013. The location of this hotel is excellent! It is within walking distance to many area tourist attractions. The continental breakfast that is included in the price of the room is quite nice, especially considering most NYC hotels charge an arm and a leg for breakfast! There were many options including bagels, yogurt, cereal, juice, donuts, and hard boiled eggs. I had a room on the 7th floor and the space was sufficient. The room was very modern. You have to step up into the bathroom so if you are handicapped, make sure you make arrangements for that. The bathroom had big pump dispensers filled with shampoo, body wash, lotion, and hand soap. My only minor complaints about the room were that the sink was very slow to drain and there was a draft coming in through the bathroom window. Those were very minor though and I enjoyed my room. The front desk staff was friendly and incredibly helpful. We had several typical tourist-type questions and the staff answered them all very courteously. A free coffee/hot chocolate machine is available in the lobby. Housekeeping was also very nice and kept clean towels stocked in the room. The beds were extremely comfortable and we were able to sleep well each night. Now for the bad part...the 2nd floor bar. On the night of December 7, 2013, I went into the bar with the people I was staying with and the woman working in it was very rude. She completely ignored us and obviously had no intentions of fixing any drinks for us. After standing in front of her for 15 minutes, we turned around and left. I really did not appreciate it and I must say, it did put a damper on our night. I would consider staying here again. Like I said, being ignored by the bar employee made me rather unhappy, but it is really my only complaint.

Room Tip: I had a 7th floor room and you could hear noise from outside, which you have to expect in NYC. The r...

In October we stayed at the sister hotel, Broadway at Times Square. Both have an excellent location. Our room at this hotel was slightly larger and the lobby area is a bit larger. It was cozy and warmly decorated for Christmas. The staff is friendly, breakfast is included, and it's very clean.

After having reservations for six months in advance, our group of five arrived at 11 pm (as soon as our plane landed and we arrived straight from the airport) at the front desk only to be told we didn't have rooms. This was the night of the tree lighting ceremony so we stood at the front desk for 45 minutes while the hotel called every hotel around trying to find open rooms. Because the city was so crowded there was nothing available. The hotel then sent us to another hotel indicating a suite was available. After the concierge couldn't secure a taxi, we had to walk four blocks, suitcases in tow to arrive at the hotel to learn the suite had one bed (for five people). Long story short the only other hotel available was a hotel in the Chelsea district or six miles away in New Jersey. The next morning we had to pay our own taxi fare back to the Hotel at Times Square (since rooms were supposed to be available that day). The manager did not offer any sort of compensation at all and also said that she couldn't even though she stated she was manager and owner. I will never book at another Apple Core hotel again.

Dear Rhonda M,
Thank you for your review. We apologize for any inconvenience. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we did not have your room ready. As you noted, it was a very busy night in New York City and we finally found you a hotel in the city. An employee accompanied you there. Unfortunately, we were never told that the room had only one bed and we sincerely apologize. We did reimburse you for a taxi the next morning.
Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you faced. The vast majority of our guests are very happy and satisfied with their stay and often become repeat customers.
We hope you will give us another chance if you’re in New York City again.

Clean, safe, affordable, and centrally located. Just a few blocks from Times Square and Rockefeller center. Rooms are nothing fancy but hey, what are you doing in the room anyway??? It's NYC.... get out and see stuff!!!!
