We rented a pedicab outside of Central Park for $80/hour. The pedicabs in the park are $3/minute. The driver was very friendly and knowledgeable, telling us about the many sights, history and famous homes along the way. We stopped at 3 picturesque and famous places along the way where he took very good photos of our family with our cameras. All in all, very worth the $80, especially if you have other places to go and do not want to spend the whole day in the park to see these sights.

My daughter and I decided to participate in this tour as it was our first visit to NYC. It was informative and appealing to get to see some of the spots where recognizable TV and movies backdrops were. We went on the Movies and TV Tour

On July 5th we decided to look at a trike tour, so glad we did. We negotiated a price with Shawn and loved every minute of the 3 hours, plenty of time to stroll around the sites of Central park, never felt rushed, he gave us so much information about the park. well worth the money.
Shawn made our day, thank you.
ps look for the trike with an Irish flag on the back, you will enjoy his Irish sense of humour.

If you are considering a tour of Central Park -do the rickshaw/petty cab. We had originally thought we would do a horse drawn carriage ride but after reviewing the comparisons of routes (apparently the horse carriages do not go into the park but mainly just skirt the edges) & cost we chose the petty cab. Our petty cab went through the park with the driver kindly pointing out lots of sights & info along the way. We were able to see a lot more of the park, stop for pictures & overall get more value for the money we felt. Negotiate the cost - there seems to be wiggle room & you can quickly knock down your price as well as lengthen your tour. As you get close to the park there are many men approaching you to try to sell you rides. Listen to a couple of their offers as it will work in your favor.

The Central Park Walking Tour that John McNeur led on May 6, 2012 exceeded my expectations. Having the headphones was a wonderful addition to the tour. The headphones enabled us to actually look at the different areas, while John pointed out little details that would not have been noticed if we had to crowd around to hear what he was saying. John brought to life the history behind Central Park and NYC. His narratives are informative, funny and at times you are spellbound by the vast amount of information and attention to detail that he has. As in the last tour I took with him (Greenwich Village), I learned so many little unknown details about Central Park and its history that make the tour so very interesting. John is an excellent tour guide - his research and organization of information comes through loud and clear. It was an informative, relaxing and most enjoyable Sunday afternoon. John you are truly a gem!
