Bigoli is in my neighborhood. I come here a couple fo times a month usually for appetizers at the bar. When I have relatives in town, I often bring them here. My uncle visited recently so we decided to check out Bigoli. It was a quiet night in the restaurant - Fridays in summer is when everyone is at the beach. We were given a nice table with plenty of room. We ordered chick pea fries and meatballs to start and shared a penne with eggplant and tomato sauce and a grilled fish entree. Both the pasta and fish were daily specials. Everything we had was delish. We ordered wine by the glass, split a Hennessey and some sorbet. The bill was $200 including tip.

Gonzo was a cherished neighborhood spot which we were so sorry to see go. Bigoli is the new place in its spot. Its first iteration was off - very expensive entrees that were not in keeping with the other neighborhood eateries on 13th Street. They figured this out quickly and changed the menu to include more medium priced selections and casual dining options like pizzas and salads. I went last night with my friend and we each had a Ceasar salad and shared a mushroon pizza that was light and delicious. We also had a nice dry white wine by the glass. On a different occasion I tried the chick pea fries which were awesome. They have also opened up the place a bit. There is a skylight with a huge true overhead and banquettes. Gonzo could get very loud. i think the acoustics have improved with these changes.

Mediocre food in an average setting. Good service ( they didn't charge us when we switched wine because it tasted dreadful ). There are hundreds of better Italian restaurants in NYC

My husband and I decided to try a new Italian restaurant in the West Village the week before Christmas. Were we ever pleased with our decision! From the moment we were greeted at the entrance until our departure a couple of hours later, we were thoroughly impressed. The Italian food (Bigoli is a kind of thick spaghetti...which happened not to be on the menu when we visited!) was creative, well cooked and nicely served. We had several of their specials and we were not disappointed. Our server was pleasant, skilled, attentive but not overbearing. His conversation with us added much to the enjoyment of the evening. The atmosphere in the two rooms - the open kitchen sits between the front and back room - was Italian modern done in soothing colors. There was interesting modern art work on the grey walls and a wonderful huge skylight, with a lighted tree hanging over part of it, over much of the back room. We loved our experience at Bigoli but be prepared for a typical expensive New York meal.
