Excellent rolls, our entrees were not consistently great. Excellent deserts. Noise in the room strains your vocal cords

Every single thing about it was fantastic. Yes, it is loud. Yes, you have to walk down a hallway and up an elevator, but WHO COMPLAINS ABOUT THAT??? No one with any sense. We loved the menu, loved every single thing we got. Our kids (6 and 8 y/o) loved it. The wine was fabulous. The service was fabulous. The food was unbeatable. Everything. Cannot recommend this place enough.

To get to Catch in the meatpacking district you have to traverse a creepy dark hallway and then figure out which floor the restaurant might be on in the event that you do find the elevator. There is a small sign, actually, once your eyes adjust to the darkness. The elevator opens directly onto the reception staffed by moonlighting wannabe mode with serious attitude.

We had a longstanding a realtively early reservation but the table was not ready, at least not until we ordered a drink at the bar. They then placed us at a terrible table upstairs under blaring speakers and we asked to move. Or turn down the music. It took a while to communicate the message, because they could not hear what we were saying. Once the hostess did hear, she told us that "corporate controls the music" (I swear) and nothing could be done. When we pushed harder about moving tables, "corporate" had somehow found the dial and turned it down. That lasted a few minutes.

When we saw empy tables and tried to move again, we got sme very imaginative stories about why "corporate" and "downstairs" could not make it happen.

The food is good and the waiters were doing their best but what separates an ok restaurant in NYC from a very good one is courtesy and service, and this place, with its "corporate downstairs" does neither. We won't be back.

Went here last night with my wife - we ordered four sushi rolls and the mahi mahi tacos (pictures attached). Each of the rolls were unique and the fish was fresh. The tacos were also a big hit. Combined with a lively and upbeat scene, we definitely enjoyed ourselves. Menu prices were not outrageous but the prices are on par with other trendy restaurants in nyc (i.e., expensive). My only complaint was that for the price, they should serve 6 pieces of sushi with every roll instead of 5. Giving one less roll seems petty and cheap, especially when everything is shared plates and 5 is not divisible by 2.
