“Tasty Food - Right Price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

One can easily miss this place given that it is literally a hole in the wall - as many other reviewers have commented. The place has about half a dozen bar-stools for seating. It will not win any points for ambience. The food on the other hand is very good. I had a chickpea dish with bread and I loved it. The pricing is just right. I would definitely visit this place again.

“Indian street food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

If you grew up in India this food may be old hat, but if not, you are in for a treat. This little hole-in-the-wall serves food inspired by the street food of India, and is not at all like your typical Indian buffet style food. We had an okra roll which was wrapped up in a chapati, a very spicy peanut salad that tasted of lime and red chilies, and a chickpea dish whose name I don't recall. All of it was very tasty and the prices are great. We ate there, sitting at the stools, but they do deliver or you could take it to the park.

“Chaat in NYC!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

They have an assortment of snacks and chaats that we as Indians look and crave for especially when traveling out of our comfort zones, though I don't mean to say that New York City or for that matter the USA is difficult to get vegetarian food options in. However masala chai and a large helping of bhel in the evening sure makes you feel pleased. The bhel was good and they have Puchka too apart from Kati rolls, for which I'd go across the street to the Kati roll company any day! The prices are easy on the wallet too!

“Indian Street Food- On McDougal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

Brilliant, realistic translation of Indian street food, using super fresh product and super authentic house roasted and blended spices.
The tiny storefront has standing room for about 4 people with a kitchen the size of the backseat of a honda civic. Try the Chapli Roll for a great lamb wrap or the spicy, amazing Achari Aloo Tiki for a veggie option.
Thelwala takes cheap eats to the utopian level!

“Pleasant Surprise at the right price”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

Excellent quick option for a tasty and inexpensive Indian food fix. This is really a take-out establishment with about 6 stools for seating, but the place is inviting and the food was a pleasant surprise. We has the Chapli roll, the size of a small burrito. Very tasty and a good size for a large snack. The Tawa Chicken Fry was excellent, portion was big enough for a small meal for 2 people. We will be back!
