Stayed with my husband for 4 nights and a further 2 nights in August and we were generally very happy with our stay. Check in was efficient and staff were friendly. The room was a decent size and clean, most importantly the bed was comfy, the shower hot and powerful and the WiFi good. The kitchen area was well equipped for a short stay.

Breakfast each morning was good, although it was pretty much the same choice and things did run out, on our last morning the bacon had run out just after 9, I asked if there was anymore and was told no it had all gone, despite breakfast being available until 10. There is a free get together buffet on Monday and Tuesday, which includes drinks and that was excellent and a very nice touch.

The lifts were slow and could get very busy in the mornings, we were trying to get down from the 13th floor with suitcases at 9am as we had a train to catch and it took us over 20 minutes to find a lift we could fit in which was a bit stressful.

The location is good for the Times Square area and there is a subway station 5 minutes walk away to get further.

We were a bit shocked to be told on arrival that there would be a $5 charge per day for housekeeping, this wasn’t indicated on our booking email, we were told to leave our ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door and housekeeping wouldn’t come in if we didn’t want to pay but this also meant things like bins didn’t get emptied which is something that should be standard.

We would stay here again if we went back to NY

We had a good experience at Staybridge Suites. We were on the 27th floor and our rooms were very nice and clean. The breakfast was good, two options either the basement or first floor. The staff was very nice and helpful. Jamie, at the transportation desk, made our son very happy when he let him play drums with him while we were waiting in the lobby! The elevators do take a bit as there are only 3 and many floors, but if you allow time, it isn't a problem. Location was good, although definitely experienced the dirtier side of NYC when walking from hotel. But the hotel end of the street is nice and clean. Definitely recommmend Shorty's Cheesesteak restaurant and 2 Bros Pizza as close options to eat.

We enjoyed our week at Staybridge Suites in Times Square very much! The hotel and room was very clean and the location is excelleto hnt. Service was good as well as the free breakfast buffet. Amanda, the manager made sure we got a room with a view and a bottle of wine as we celebrated our 30th anniversary. Thank you, Amanda, and thank you Jamie for singing the Beatles In My Life (I Love You More) before we went out for our anniversary dinner, that was so sweet! We enjoyed listening to him sing and play guitar! Thanks to the management and employees for a most memorable New York City visit. We definitely recommend the Staybridge Suites and hope to return some day!

Although it is a good price, the Staybridge suites on 40th St. in Manhattan have gone downhill physically… The lobby is dirty, the carpeting in the rooms is torn and the whole place needs a facelift. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms have what you need, but it feels a little dingy. The breakfast is nice , So I guess in many respects it’s not a bad place to stay for the money. But they really need to fix it up and make it look as good as it could.

Hi bdkarson,

Thank you for choosing us during your visit to New York. I hope you had a great time touring around the area!

I am glad you found our hotel in a great spot and a good spend. I'm also happy that you liked our comfortable beds and breakfast options. This surely is the best feature of our hotel.

I'm sorry your stay was not 100% satisfactory because of the overall condition of the hotel. I also read you the upkeep of the hotel did not live up to your expectations. We welcome your thoughts that our property requires upgrading.

Your feedback keeps us growing. Be assured that I have shared your review with the management. I know they appreciate your thoughts and I am confident they will take appropriate steps to address these. I am hopeful for another opportunity to welcome you back for an improved experience.

Always,

Glaiza G.

Stayed here with friends recently. Friendly staff, comfortable room, great breakfast and ok dinner but those elevators!! 32 floors (we were on 9) and we waited 20 minutes while 4 elevators were so packed we couldnt get in, so we ended up walking as did many people from other floors. On the morning we checked out it was an absolute nightmare. Managed to grab one going up, with all our luggage, just so we could actually get one. (No way we could walk down 9 levels with suitcases). We had to go right up to 32 and then down to ground level, stopping at almost every floor as people had pushed the button and then given up waiting.

Room was good. Comfy beds, nice linen. However the cooling system sounded like a tractor and went on and off all night (we needed it because the room was so hot). Fridge wobbled and also made a noise.

I wouldn't stay there again unfortunately. They are aware of the elevator problems but I don't know if they have any plans to fix them.
