“Try the chicken in red chili!”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

Amazing! Surprisingly not too spicy for my husband (if you ask for it mild- I'm sure they can make it plenty spicy!). Favorite dishes include Snow pea shoots with garlic (so fresh and so clean!), ma po tofu (with or without pork), chicken with red chilies- really yummy chicken, just don't eat the chillies. Also love the duck tea buns (yum!). This place has become a favorite of mine.
Just a warning: I have traveled a lot, but this menu is one of the most challenging I have come across recently. Not sure why, but would HIGHLY recommend using one of their photo albums to help pick what you want to eat- makes it all so clear.

“Good quality and selection”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

Our party of four recently ate at Hot Kitchen prior to going to a show at the nearby Theater For The New City. The menu is extensive and includes very exotic as well as more familiar dishes. We ordered a selection of Sichuan appetizers and entrees and all were excellent and authentic. Portions are very generous, so be careful not to over-order. The restaurant is clean and attractively decorated.

“Excellent Authentic Sichuan . . . . . and Hotpot too!”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

I visited this new restaurant in the East Village with a Chinese friend. We ordered spicy Sichuan dumplings, braised sliced beef in chili sauce and sauteed spicy Chinese broccoli . . . . . ALL WERE EXCELLENT!

I really love Sichuan Chinese food . . . . the spicier the better. . . . . . and have enjoyed it in several US cities, Toronto, Vancouver, London, Edinburgh and China too. The best I ever tasted was in Shanghai but this is as good as any that I've had elsewhere. . . . . . and much better than most.

Servings were of good size. Prices very reasonable. Service was great. They keep your water glass filled (unusual for NYC) and well as your large tea cup (also unusual since they don't use the typical small Chinese style cups).

The people at the next table were enjoying hotpot which is another of my favorites. It looked very good. I'll try it sometime.

Check their web page www.hotkitchenny.com and scroll down to the bottom to view the restaurant.

I will definitely be back.
