“Affordable Gourmet Teas in Greenwich Village”
Reviewed June 7, 2013 via mobile

Way before it was called The Wine Spot, it was known as The Tea Spot.

The cafe was as we remembered it from our last visit 3 years ago, albeit a little more worn around the corners. It makes for a great hangout not just for NYU students but also for those passing through the area. The cafe now offers a small selection of wines and tapas, in addition to its specialty - gourmet teas from around the world. Try the Butter Truffle and Turkish Apple for something more robust. The muffins are also surprisingly delicious. There is free (and unsecured wifi available).

“The vanishing Greenwich Village”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

The Wine spot which shares space with the Tea spot is a perfectly pleasant place if one wishes to shout over the 'background' music' while sipping a glass of wine. The Tea Spot which used to be a civilised oasis on Macdougal street , has been redisigned quite pleasantly. They still have over 50 kinds of tea, although served in a mug with an odd plastic tea strainer. As noted above, the inappropriate music (I heard an ad for proactive skin cleanser) played at a level that the owner ( according to the server) has decreed appropriate, wipes out any of the charm the place still has. Another Village spot gone. What a shame.

“old new york”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

came here for an iced tea-quite nice and refreshing in this unusually hot summer of nyc-all teas and coffees/baked goods made on premise --they also have chatzkies to sell--you really get the feel of old nyc around the washington park area---their prices are too high for what they serve --they also have a wine and cheese bar and you can have brunch--they seem to have shows their from time to time like a flamenco dancer--good to meet a blind date on
