Description: Directly next door to its sister, Shrine World Music Venue, Yatenga French Bistro & Bar offers French cuisine in a delightful shabby chic, world bohemian vibe. With whitewashed brick walls and exposed Edison bulbs, Yatenga's decor sets the tone for a delicious meal, dished up by Chef Gregorio Sanchez. You can't go wrong with the Special Gambas, macaroni and cheese, bechamel sauce, garlic butter topped with large shrimp. Beloved by locals, Yatenga's dynamic staff and friendly patrons will quickly bring newcomers into its fold. Enjoy the brunch scene on the patio on a weekend morning or cozy up inside with a date and a signature cocktail, the LouLou is a favorite. Their long, communal table is ideal for hosting a large group in an intimate environment. Just don't leave before heading next door to enjoy the live music and a nightcap at Shrine before heading home.

We arrived in late evening in NYC and had our apartment in Harlem. The Yatenga was recommeded to us and we went to have the late dinner there. The food was really good and the service was great. Cosy, small place!

Atmosphere was warm, friendly and laid back. Cozy but in no way tightly crowded. Great space. Food was very tasty and done in a unique way. Had the Chicken with Kale and Polenta. Yummy! Polenta was very light and so tasty... All of it was tasty! My friend had the flourless Chocolate cake and coconut ice cream for desert....she said it was fantastic. I would definitely go here again..

Funky but chic... The place has an energy that fits the neighborhood.. A true bistro.. Cool bar... Absolutely delicious food... Best French onion soup ever! I had the braised lamb shank.. Served with a wonderful brown wine sauce reduction with black olives, and polenta...succulent... To top it off... Chocolate soufflé to die for.. Nice wine selection.. Friends had grilled salmon in a saffron sauce.. They cleaned their plates also... Only thing is its loud... Loud music... But it's part of the culture in Harlem... Reccednded....

Second time here-once last spring and now August, dropping my daughter off for college- great atmosphere - food is full flavor, French "spiced up" as one of my daughter's would say- we had mussels, tuna tartare, crab cakes (special), lamb shank, duck breast- all perfect- ample portions- nice wine list- not too extensive but certainly appropriate for the restaurant -service was attentive- great return engagement- likely return engagement in the future
