We love this hotel because of the people who run it. In all the years we've stayed here the staff has pretty much remained the same. They remember us when we arrive and treat us like old friends or family. We can't imagine staying anywhere else.

I'm not used to the hard, body-adjusting memory foam mattress, and as such, kept waking up almost every 45 minutes during my sleep. That was the most unpleasant thing I experienced in any hotel. Their internet kept locking me out, and I had to contact the front desk about the remote not working. Afterwards, I found out that the tv channel selection was greatly limited, and there were practically no amenities save for the tiny shampoo, soap and lotion. A little too expensive for the bare necessities. However, the checkout staff was very friendly.

Mr. Alson,

I'm disappointed to hear you didn't sleep well on our top of the line Tempur-pedic beds. We strive to offer the most comfortable and blissful sleep in the industry, and regret that we didn't meet, much less exceed your expectations. We also offer over 20 cable networks in all of our guest rooms, including Showtime, as well as complimentary high speed internet service. Very seldom do we have issues with our internet, but when there is one, a quick reset of the local router by our Best Western IT department would have quickly resolved the matter.

I spoke to our customer service agents, as well as checked our daily logs, and unfortunately found no record of these issues you mentioned in your review. Our goal is to be proactive with respect to guest related issues and will use this as a learning experience. We truly appreciate you taking the time to inform us of your experience at our hotel. All guest comments and reviews are always welcome, regardless of its nature.

Thank You,

We enjoyed our stay here. It was close to the cruise ship dock and also not a far walk from Broadway shows. The breakfast was ample and the room, though not fancy or large, were quite serviceable for our purpose.

In October 2013 we visited New York City with the intention of going on a tour of the East cost of USA and then through Canada, back through Washington DC and back to New York, which we did.
We had a three night stay prior to the tour and a further ten days at the end of the tour and in all the time in New York we stayed at the Best Western Convention Center Hotel in Hell's Kitchen.
We were very unsure when we first arrived, BUT, the Staff at the Hotel could not do enough for us. They checked on our weklfare, assisted with travel arrangements and were more than friendly.
If we ever return to New York, which I hope we will we will again try to stay there! The prices (as compared to other hotels in New York) are very reasonable, the rooms clean and tidy and service terrific. Best Western Executives would do well to go and try out this hotel (undercover) for themselves. The Manager helped us out time after time (and kept on smiling) he was fabulous! Also for the price, breakfast is supplied, but unfortunately no restaurant other than in the morning, but deli's and shops are close by, along with a great Irish Pub and other eateries.

Room Tip: Rooms from the 4th floor up are quieter, in the "City that never sleeps".

A great choice when you have to be at the Javits Convention Center or just want to be close to some of New York's great attractions - walking distance to Times Square, Empire State, Bryant Park. The breakfast is a nice feature - very satisfying!

Maf141,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Best Western Convention Center. One of the great advantages our hotel offers is our proximity to the Javit Center. This convenience allows our business traveler to get that little extra rest before spending long work hours at the Javit Center.

Our complimentary American Breakfast Buffet is quite delicious and offers a great variety of NYC bagels, pastries, scrambled eggs, homemade waffles, Colombian coffee, and a selection of Minute Maid Juices.

We truly appreciate the kind words and we look forward to your next stay at the Best Western Convention Center.

Staff are all very friendly. Rooms are clean. Most important you are within walking distance of everything. Times square, Empire State Building, and Top of the Rock are only blocks away. Madison Square Gardens is around the corner. Central Park and several others aren't far either. My wife and I got venturous and walked all the way to Battery Park from here as well. I can't tell you how many stops are along the way, but the Freedom Tower and 911 Memorial are along the way. Long story short is we guarantee this motel is the best bang for your buck while visiting New York City. We will definitely be back.

I have stayed in many hotels in NY and I have very different requirements depending on how long I stay and what the purpose of my stay is. I stayed here in January, when I had a 30 hour layover in NY, and decided that it would be more fun to spend the night in NYC and take advantage of all the city has to offer, rather than staying at the airport. And for this particular purpose, this hotel was just fine. However, I would have hated to stay here for longer than a day. First of all, the hotel does not look very welcoming. I arrived at 10pm, the desk clerk clearly hated his job, and the lobby looked very run-down. Not a great first impression. Also, you have to walk up a few stairs to get from the lobby to the front door (even though they have an elevator for that, this might be annoying for people with disabilities). The first room they put me in had its heater/AC taped to the wall with a big piece of scotch-tape, which clearly didnt work as the room was ice-cold. Wow! That seemed pretty ghetto! But then I got a different room with a fine functioning heater. Next let-down: the bed was very hard, not comfy at all. For the rest, the room was fine, the shower was good and I didn't hear any noise from the corridor or outside.
For those of you unfamiliar with the NY subway system: It is quite a long walk to the next subway station. That's another huge draw-back of this hotel as well. Oh and another thing: the hotel doesn't have a proper storage space for luggage, but merely a make-shift storage space in the breakfast room. I asked the guy in charge, whether I could trust leaving my valuables there and he just shrugged ....
Bottom line: The hotel is fine for very short stays or if you attend an event at the convention center, but certainly not for longer stays or if you expect usual Best Western standards. That said, if you are looking to stay at a Best Western, I highly recommend the Best Western Bowery Hanbee in Chinatown.
