Hotel was clean and tidy. The breakfast was wonderful. Most of the staff was very accommodating. Check in could certainly have been better. You should know that there is an elevator from street level to reception.

The hotel is perfectly situated for the Javits Centre which is just five minutes walk away. The staff are friendly and helpful. Room service is efficient and tidy. The wifi works well by hotel standards.

The rooms are small, you can't properly open the wardrobe door because it hits the bed. The hotel is right next to a railway track and the trains are very audible even with the windows closed. The trains would not be so bad if they didn't always blow the horn or ring the bell just as they pass the hotel. Two rooms on each floor are adjacent to the lift shaft, adding to the noise.

There is very little seating for breakfast, a lot of people grab something and take it too their room at busy times. The continental breakfast is very American, I spotted plenty of "muffins" and rather hard bagels but no croissants or bread rolls. There is only "plastic" cheese and no sliced meat but the scrambled eggs were good and there were always cornflakes and fruit.

All in all ok if you don't mind the noise of the trains and are happy to buy breakfast at a diner, which is an important part of the NY experience anyway.

Barwickgreen,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Best Western Convention Center. We value all guest comments and reviews. We pride ourselves in the quality of our staff, amenities offered, and affordable room rates. Our close proximity to the Javit Center is ideal for guest that have business at the Center or just plan on attending one of the many great shows. Our rooms are cozy and comfortable, and come with LCD high definition televisions, 24/7 wifi, satellite cable access, and world class beds.

Please understand that every hotel has a low and high time for breakfast. We offer a delicious American breakfast buffet, that includes a generous selection of fresh baked pastries, New York style bagels, homemade scrambled eggs, a Belgian waffle maker, fruits, juices, etc...With such a great selection, we do experience high volume towards the latter part of the breakfast (7 am-10 am). We recommend that all our guest join us for breakfast during the earlier hours, to avoid any congestion in the dining area. I'm dismayed you didn't enjoy our breakfast, but as you stated, we are within walking distance of hundreds of great eateries.

Thank you again for taking the time to review your stay at the Best Western Convention Center, please visit us again soon.

I've been here several times, and for convenience to the Javits, which is essentially in the worst part of Manhattan they could have found for it, it can't be beat. Comfortable, clean, a bit shabby but nothing horrible, small rooms as would be expected, TV has lousy channel selection, but you're not here to watch TV, are you? The elevator is reasonably fast. Continental breakfast is quite good, although the room gets pretty crowded. The coffee, however, is awful.
What's also awful is the Wi-Fi. I don't remember it being this bad in previous years, but I've had dialup connections that were faster and more consistent than this. They really need to fix it.
Other than that, and the noise from the auto body shop across the street (try to get a room in the back), no complaints.

Room Tip: Get a higher floor, in the back for more quiet.

GeorgieA,

Thank you for your review and I apologize for not responding in a timely manner. We offer great amenities, at affordable rates considering our closeness to the Javit Center and Times Square. I do apologize if you experienced any issues with our free 24/7 wifi service. As I'm sure you have experienced yourself at home, wifi service is not always reliable and can be slowed or interrupted by many different factors. We do try to be as diligent as possible to resolve the issue when a guest reports it to our front desk. We also offer a toll free number to our guest, so that they may speak to our wifi provider directly.

Regarding your distaste for our coffee, I'm a coffee enthusiast myself and can honestly tell you that we are in the process of upgrading our coffee. That first cup in the morning makes all the difference and I completely understand you.

Again, thank you for your review and we look forward to your next stay at the Best Western Convention Center. We truly value all guest opinions and suggestions.

We arrived at about 4 pm on a Saturday. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We were asked if we wanted a "high room" or "low room" and reading the reviews, I asked for a high room so we were assigned a room on the 9th floor. Our room was clean, small and cozy. It had a nice flat screen TV, queen size bed and an awesome view. Breakfast the next morning was pretty good. Scrambled eggs, make-your-own waffles (which were REALLY good!), yogurt, fruit, toast, bagels, juice, coffee. The walk to the subway wasn't horrible but I think next time I would rather stay in a hotel that is closer to the subway only for convenience.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel to other travelers. It is close to the Port Authority (we took the bus in and walked from the Port Authority to the hotel), and is close to some really good restaurants (2 Bros Pizza nearby served decent pizza for $1 a slice!)--also check out 9th Ave--some ethnic places to eat there.

Room Tip: Go "high" for views!

With the understanding that New York hotel rooms are notoriously small, this hotel was average. The room was clean, but could use some updating. We were really only there to sleep so it was fine. The breakfast was not exciting, but was enough to get us going in the morning. The room we had was next to the elevator, so that was a bit noisy. There was also a train and in the morning there was construction with a jack hammer going. Bring earplugs and you will be fine. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with the exception of the night clerk who was completely disinterested and unhelpful. The hotel is walking distance to Times Square and subway station (maybe 15- 20 minutes walk).

LBSRichmond_BC,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Best Western Convention Center. Our hotel is modest in size, but provides great amenities and comfort at a very affordable price. We do apologize for the outside commotion, but please understand it is out of our control. What we can do is offer our guest another room on a higher floor or the rear of the hotel, if available.

We also appreciate the kind words about our front desk staff, and please accept our sincere apology for any rudeness experienced from our night clerk..

Again, thank you for your comments and we look forward to your next stay at the Best Western Convention Center.

This hotel is in the perfect location for the Javitz Convention Center. While they were still small, the rooms are a little bigger than other hotels in the area we have stayed at. Larger lobby and breakfast area. Breakfast was basic but good. Nice staff. Walking distance to restaurants.

Cleanliness and location were our top priorities on a recent overnight visit to NYC. We were able to walk to Javits Convention Center and Intrepid Museum, as well as many midtown restaurants on the west side of NYC. Room was clean, staff was friendly, breakfast adequate. All in all a good positive experience.

Room Tip: Great location for Javits Convention Center or Intrepid Sea & Air Museum visit.
