Someone at the hotel recommended Luigi's, a few blocks away, so we gave it a try. What a find. The place is a small hole in the wall and you could walk by it on the street (the main picture on this listing is NOT the same restaurant, but the picture of the menu is the same place). We walked into a small, cramped space and the guys working the counter were not ready for indecisive patrons. Lots of choices so it took us a while to place our order. Place was filled with locals inc police and construction guys, so we should have read that as a good sign.

Finally snagged the one table in the back and were wondering what we had gotten ourselves into when the food arrived.... Wow! Huge plate of grilled veggies and the best sauteed mushrooms any of us had in a long time. The grilled chicken panini I had was delicious and filled with fresh mozzerella and roasted red peppers. It was a huge sandwich and came with a salad for $8.50. Pizza was very tasty and only $2.75 a slice. We also had stuffed shells and a salad.

So good and so reasonably priced that we went back for dinner. We debated that it was crazy not to try someplace new with all of the offerings available, but we just couldn't pass up the quality with the price. They do have a minimum purchase amount for credit cards, so if you are just coming in for just a couple slices of pizza, bring cash.

Ordered on Sunday at 6:30, delivered in 40 minutes, piping hot and delicious. Also ordered garlic cheese bread. At $2.75, I was expecting a single piece of bread. I was shocked to see an entire loaf of perfectly toasted, cheesy garlic bread. YOU HAVE TO TRY IT! Well done Luigi's. A whole dinner for under $25, and a relaxing night in the hotel. You just can't beat it!

The restaurant is quite cramped, but the pizzas are amazing here! So cheap, you get very large portions (the smallest size is 14" - a large in the UK). The food is really hot temperature wise, so that's really good.
The servers are really friendly, I will definitely be coming back here! Best pizza I've had in a vey long time and in my opinion the best pizza I've ever had in New York.

When you walk in, it smells good. Only about 6-7 tables, so if one is free when you walk in, grab it! We went there after ice skating at Wollman Rink in Central Park, it was perfect! Great NYC service, great food, great prices!

We ate here 3 times while staying in New York. Very good pizza and very good location. Especially if you want off your feet for a quick break from shopping.
