The restaurant dining area is small so reservations are needed, but has an elegant and intimtate setting. The resturant was half filled but the noise level was up. Seating here is a bit cramped as tables are closed together. The tapas here are delicious, the most notable are braised ribs croquettes, pork belly, shrimps, and patata bravas. The most favorite was the pumpkin & chicken soup with the smoked meats and the blanco and negro dessert. The tapas are on the smaller side but they were very savory. A real find in Chelsea.

My husband and I stumbled across Salinas a few months ago, and it has become our favoriate restaurant in NYC! This is a Spanish restaurant and Salinas means salt. The chef is from Spain, but this is not like any other Spanish restaurant in NYC. Actually, it's like nothing we had in Spain either. The tapas and entrees are amazing creations by the chef, and the quality is always consistent and excellent. You absolutely must try the cauliflower and brussel sprouts dish. It's unbelievable. Not only is the food first-rate, but the service is flawless and the wine is outstanding. The ambiance is one of the most beautiful in the city. If you go in the summer, ask for the garden with the glass retractable roof. We have been to many restaurants in NYC over the past 25+ years. This restaurant is exceptional and, without a doubt, our favorite restaurant in all of NYC. You must make reservations in advance.

Finally, found a place for
real authentic Spanish food!
The paella was incredibly amazing!
The suckling pig was unique, crispy
and so tasty! My husband and I loved
the Serrano hamon, wished it came
in much more strips , so YUMmm !
Even if the place is small , it is intimate,
great for quiet , romantic groups, which
I love!
Above all the service is commendable ,
I praise chef Luis Bollo! He is a genius and
a good man! He keeps a wonderful staff too!
We hope to come back the next time we're
in NYC, but we're definitely referring
a lot of friends to this friendly place!

Salinas offers a wondrous assortment of authentic Spanish cuisine at reasonable (for NYC) prices. The suckling pig entree is about the best your will ever find, literally falling off the bone. The appetizers and tapas are portions that can actually be shared so that several at a table vcan taste a variety of dishes and get a real "flavor" of this marvelous place. On a dry, warm night the retractable roof opens allowing a open-air atmosphere in the rear of the restaurant making the entire experience al fresco. The staff is friendly, helpful and attentive but not intrusive.

Tooling around NYC and the Highline with an out of town friend we thought we'd have time to wander neighborhoods close by and find a good dinner. Without warning the heavens opened and we ducked into Salinas. The staff was just setting up but as the rain stopped they opened the retractable roof in the back and we found ourselves a 'garden' table. With no intention of staying we order a drink and one small tapas plate of anchovies. OMG we both were transported back to steamy Spanish holidays. We then relaxed into our seats and kept the goodness coming.

Two months later Hubby (amateur restaurant critic) & I were in the mood for Spanish food & I suggested Salinas, except I couldn't remember the name. It was real pressure to drag him to 9th Ave from the LES when I didn't even know exactly which street it was on or its name. Luckily I found it and even more luckily Hubby loved it. This time we had a fantastic platter of meats & cheeses paired with perfecto Spanish sherry. Our waiter was very professional and knowledgable about all the dishes and the specials. He paid close attention to us and all his tables.

Highly recommend. Can get loud later on a Sat night...like every restaurant in NYC
