“STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! (HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!!!!)”
Reviewed April 18, 2010

We stayed at the Library recently on a trip to NYC to celebrate our anniversary - the website does not do it justice - its wonderfully set out and the staff ae not only extremely helpful (as you'd expect in America) but just nice and a pleasure to just speak to - I could go on about how great the library is but to sumarise:

Location is amazing - fve minutes from times square/broadway and 1 minutes from grand central and 5th avenue - everytihng else is no more than a walk or short cab ride away!

The rooms - I read on here their on the small side but no more so than any other city centre hotel - we were very happy and comfortable with our room (and in New York - that really is all you need)

Food - with a city like new york at your doorstep you have everything you need right there - so when some entries on here were bemoaning at the lack of the hot cooked breakfast as the library I was alittle worried - but don't be - the breakfasts is lovely and exactly what you need in city break - fresh juice, warm tea and coffee and pastries, muffins, beagels ect.
If you really want a cooked breakfast thier are place all down madison avenue to supply,( and we thought we would go) but it was so good we never needed to -
on another note - their are cookies, pastires - tea and coffee avaliable in the reading room all day to quests just what we needed after a long day in the city - and more so later on there was also wine and nibbles in the evening - excellent!
(there is also resturant which is also excellent)

Overall - a totally great stay, great location and does everything you need to give you a place to replenish, refresh and venture in the city once again - like I said we were celebrating our anniversary and we're wished all th ebest by everyone - plus whether we needed a film/DVD recomendation, directions or advce everyone was not only very knowable but gave us locals tips also!

All in all stay at this hotel - it's not the reason you go to new york (and in city like that is shouldn't be) but it enhances everything we did and provided everything we needed in the upmost service and more importantly with a smile.

I will be going back to the library on my next stay in the city

This hotel is really first class-we upgraded the room following other reviewers suggesting the petit style rooms were quite cramped. Our room was fine and in immaculate condition.
The breakfasts were good and the nightly wine and cheese pleasant and a chance to meet others and share visiting tips.
The hotel staff were charming, incredibly helpful and generally faultless apart from one slightly stroppy chambermaid (once mentioned a bottle of bubbly appeared in our room) which resolved the issue.
The hotel is superbly positioned, yet still quiet and many sites are in easy walking distance.
We would not hesitate to return or to recommend this hotel. Well done!

We stayed for a week and found the the hotel to be really well located with great staff; particularly Igor and Billy on the front desk. Rooms are small however well decorated and well maintained. Second floor guest area is a life saver. Roof top bar is fabulous and highlight. Very well priced and we would definitely stay here again.

We had a junior suite and we loved the library theme. Found all the hotel to be very, very clean and all the facilities spot on. Rooms in other hotels may be bigger but they would struggle to beat the service provided by the staff. Have stayed in many corporate 5* hotels but the Library felt so friendly, so well-intentioned that it maintained its place. Venue is great for the 'big' tourist spots and a $10 taxi will get you to Greenwich Village and nightlife. We loved it and would go back in a heartbeat.

Loved it! This was our first trip to NY and we couldn't have chosen a better hotel in terms of:
- Location, which is very central to all the major attractions
- Service delivery. Reception & Concierge staff were very helpful, informative and friendly
- Hospitality We had a good start to our day with a plentiful healthy breakfast and the wine & nibbles were a welcome treat before we headed out for the evening. Again, the staff were great and they made sure that there was an abundance of food laid out at all times.
Cleanliness - in fact spotless!!
We booked our break about 7 months in advance & paid in advance, saving 20% on the total cost. Don't think I would have wanted to pay the full price which is a bit steep, but probably on parr with the rest of hotels in NY.

The only down side is that you can't always get access to the top floor bar deck as it can be hired out for private functions. Not such a negative though, but I had to rack my brain to think of one.

Expect noisy traffic through the night - it is midtown Manhattan after all!

I had heard only good things about this hotel prior to our stay and it lived up to all of those expectations. They are a well run hotel that perfected our stay in New York. It is not cheap but what you get for your stay makes it worth it. Nightly wine and cheese, continental style breakfast and being so centrally located round out the experience. Nice sized rooms with all the amenities left everyone that visited us saying "I wish my room was this big". We could not have asked for a better stay. Grand central station is right around the corner so getting anywhere in the city is easy as could be.
