We have just returned from a 3 night stay and loved this hotel. The location was great, especially as I was running the marathon and was literally a minutes walk from The Public Library where the marathon buses depart from! It is in a nice area and the walk to many of the attractions is a pleasant one. When we arrived we were upgraded from a Deluxe room to a Suite which was light, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The bathroom also was clean & modern and had a small but adequate bath - we couldn't have asked for more!
We loved the roof top lounge and garden and the snacks and cocktails were delicious. The breakfast in the Reading Room on floor 2 was very good. a good selection of fruit salad, cereals, bagels, pastries, teas and coffees. Food in the Madison & vine was good, both in the restaurant and as room service - it arrived quickly and was hot! The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble - we will definitely be back. Highly recommended!!

Great hotel with friendly staff. Lobby is a tad small, but envelopes the library theme wonderfully. Our room was clean and comfortable; the free continental breakfast was sufficient and tasty; and the evening cheese and wine fare was absolutely wonderful. Loved the 14th floor - rooftop lounge where one can enjoy light reading during the day and drinking in the evening. Only complaint: Their "reading room" on the 2nd floor is also the breakfast cum evening cheese/wine room which, with its chairs and tables looks much like a cafe. Any hotel with a literary theme should have one library with comfortable couches and overstuffed chairs near or in the lobby. Just a suggestion. But, all in all, we had a wonderful selection of books in our room (the genre was paranormal) and we could read as many of them as we wanted. Definitely recommend this hotel. BTW: Billy at the desk was great and very helpful.

Only a one night stay, but worth a mention. Very nicely put-togther property: small but extremely comfortable room, all the amenities expected for this level of hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely return for a longer stay.

We stayed at the library hotel as part of my 40th Birthday celebrations. When we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to the room on the 11th floor that has a balcony, which was a pleasant surprise. The room itself was perfect for what we needed. Very clean, pretty spacious, large comfortable bed and excellent facilities. We could not fault the room at all, although you may hear some noise from the road but I guess that is to be expected in New York. The balcony was wonderful, as you could sit there with a glass of whatever takes your fancy and watch the hectic life below pass you by. It had some nice views, including the library at the other end of the road.

The staff at the hotel were superb, very attentive and always a pleasure to talk to. I couldn't praise them enough for their efforts. The breakfast was a nice selection, although not your cooked English type affair but that is not something I was looking for. I stuck with the great bagels and some fruit salad. In addition, in the evenings they provided a free cheese and wine selection that you could help yourself to. This was a nice touch and a good way to wind down after a hectic day sightseeing.

For us the location couldn't be better. It is situated right in the middle of Manhattan within walking distance of most of the attractions (depending on how far you can walk). It is pretty quick to Times Square, Central Park and the Flat Iron area which all offer a great selection of bars and restaurants.

I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. If I ever go back to New York this would be the first place I would try to book.

Room Tip: The room with the balcony would be the best

Great hotel: friendly and helpful staff; double room was comfortable enough good breakfast; evening cheese and wine was a nice touch and served as a good aperitif before a night out.
Only negative was external noise from street/construction etc. However, location very convenient with many attractions accessible by foot.
Would definitely stay at the Library again for a return trip to NYC.
