“Great stay, staff very friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2013 via mobile

Had a great stay here a few weeks ago, hotel really lived up to expectations. Staff really friendly and very well located. A bit pricey but you need to pay for first class service. I had the music room which was really well laid out. Breakfast and wine and cheese early evening were real treats.

I have just come back from a week in New York, where I stayed at the The Library Hotel. I stayed in the Germanic Room on the 4th floor facing 41th street. It was brilliant. Every one was friendly and welcoming and always ready to help. The location could not be any better. Right around the corner from Grand Central Station and 42nd street and buses nearby. The shuttle from 42nd street takes you straight to Times Square and Broadway. The breakfast had everything that I needed. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. I am definitely going back to stay in the future.

We had a fantastic stay at the library with absolutely no complaints about anything. Especially welcome is the sitting room a quiet refuge in a big noisy city with help yourself coffee, tea, pastries biscuits etc. all day and the well patronised wine & cheese at the end of the day is a fantastic wind down too.

The staff need a special commendation too everybody was so helpful and pleasant.

For book lovers only?Absolutely not, but for those who want to stay comfortably in Midtown!

I have been visiting NYC every early autumn for the last seven years in a row and have found my favourite hotel: Library Hotel.

My first hotel experience in New York was much too plain and minimalistic for my taste: Voss design water, green apples, not enough morning newspapers in a very small and gloomy breakfast room. Great location for shopping at BergdofGoodman though, if that would have been in my interest. And nicely close to Central Park (which I love) and Apple Store's 24/7 Genius Bar ( which I need every now and then).

My second hotel experience was hotel next to Bryant Park (whics is one of my favourite parks in NYC). Great location, great building. Nightclub, beautiful people during fashion week! loved the location, but not the ambience of the hotel.

Third time tells the truth: Library hotel. The greatest location in Midtown. You are in the middle of Manhattan in every measure. Small boutique hotel with great service, very, very small but cosy rooms of good quality, superb complimentary breakfast, lovely wine and cheese session in the afternoon + great service in the breakfast room! Coffee and fruit available all day long. Lovely rooftop garden & bar upsrairs. IT- room available without booking beforehand, free wifi (must these days) This year we had some trouble with hotel wifi - sorry to add. Downstairs a very popular and nice restaurant with fairly good food.

The location could't be better! And if you don't enjoy the idea of the tourist trap of Times Square, you will love it here at Madison Av.

Room Tip: Deluxe room is enough for two if you travel with one large luggage. With more luggage you are in tro...

A classy, comfy, quiet and very clean structure just steps away from both the NY Public Library and Grand Central Station. Times Square, the UN precincts, and the Flatiron district are also within walking distance - and what walking distance: think Broadway, Madison Ave. or 5th Ave.!
The rooms are very comfortable (ok, I only saw mine, but the impression was excellent), and breakfasts were the perfect start of the day. In the same room (called 'reading room: books everywhere, quiet, sophisticated jazz as background music) you can also have cheese, fruit and wine in the late afternoon or before going out to a show. I still don't know when I am going back to NYC, but when I do I am sure I will stay at the Library Hotel again.

Love the concept!!!.....We were there for a birthday and they sent a bottle of wine to our room with a lovely card signed by "the librarians".....There are books everywhere.....We stayed in a deluxe room which was a good size, very cozy with windows that open.....Everything was spotless.....The service was good, everyone was very friendly.....The breakfast room is just fantastic, surrounded by books and windows and you are welcome to stay there all day.....Breakfast is good, there's toast/cereal/boiled eggs/fruit salad and the most important thing, an espresso/cappuccino machine :) They serve lemon water/coffee and cookies etc during the say and there's wine and nibblies in the evening......It's a comfortable room, we were waiting for our flight and just hung out and relaxed for an hour or so.....Bookmarks Lounge is a treat as well, fun drinks and appetizers and being able to sit outside on a patio with ivy etc was really nice......The location is fantastic, we were there 3 days before we bought a Metro card, you can walk everywhere, it's a block away from Grand Central Terminal and maybe 10 min from Times Square....

Room Tip: If there are 2 of you and you can afford, I would say spring for the deluxe room, the extra room is...

The Library Hotel is a perfectly quaint hotel that is a great place to stay while in the city. It's a great location on Madison, outside the chaos of Times Square but still close enough to anywhere you want to be. And with Grand Central Terminal a block away, anywhere you don't want to walk you can get to easily by subway. While the rooms are small, they are well appointed and have everything you need and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel rooftop bar is a hidden NYC treasure and the 2nd floor guest lounge with complimentary breakfast is a great place to start the day. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
