“The perfect place to stay in New York - didn't want to leave”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

We stayed at the Library for 4 nights in March and it was the perfect base for sight seeing. Located literally round the corner from Grand Central Station and the Chrysler Building and within 10 mins walking distance of Times Square, Empire State, and Madison Square Gardens.
Our corner room, a junior suite (Astronomy) had a brilliant view down the seemingly endless Madison Avenue to our right and the beautiful New York library in front on us and was remarkably quiet given the location.
The staff were incredible, so helpful and friendly and arranged cars, tickets and restaurant reservations for us before we arrived.
One of best things about this boutique hotel is the hospitality. The free buffet breakfast included juice, yoghurt, bagels, salad and fruit; coffee and pastries were served throughout the day; and from 5-8pm red wine, white wine and prosecco are served with a great range of cheeses, crackers, french bread and olives. it was such a lovely touch and a great way to start your evening.
The hotel isn't cheap, but given all of the free food and drink, amazing location, fantastic staff and wonderful character it is definitely the best place to stay in New York and i can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Corner rooms/junior suites have great views.

My sisters and I stayed five nights at the Library Hotel and we were very impressed with the quality of the rooms, the amenities and the service. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating and the breakfast and happy hour reception offered lots of options. The rooms were quiet and well-appointed and the location is unbeatable. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here the next time I am in New York

I stayed for three nights on business and the comfort and service is impeccable. Ample breakfast, not cooked, is included as is the evening cheese and wine reception. All very good quality food and wine. Nice rooftop bar and small outside terrace.
Rooms very comfortable with all you need incl iPhone dock on music system.
With just 66 rooms they remember who you are and all the staff are very attentative.
Highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed here in the Ancient History suite for 11 days as part if our honeymoon. We were very pleased with the service provided and made the most of the happy hour wine and cheese. The room itself although not particularly large. is large by NYC standard and well accessoried with a comfy bed and the option of pillow selection. The roof top bar is also worth a visit. We found the location ideal as it was a short 5min walk to Grand Central. The bell boy and front desk staff were extremely helpful. We hope to see them all again soon on our next trip.

This is a great boutique hotel with excellent facilities, ideally located in Midtown New York City. Our room was stylish, comfortable and quiet. The staff are exemplary. Excellent quality breakfast that was also plentiful as was the wine and cheese provided in the evening. This was the ideal base for our week in NYC.

The Library Hotel was a real pleasure. The rooms, albeit small although I had taken a room larger than the standard size, are very comfortable and very well maintained. The beds are a pleasure to sleep in.

The breakfast area is very nice and the staff super. The choice from the breakfast buffet is just what you need to start your day. Hats off to their automatic coffee machine which grinds the beans and seems almost as big as my oven at home. It makes great cappuccino!

One of my favorite things about the hotel was the terrace bar on the rooftop. It was a perfect end to the day after walking around the city and needing to rest and relax. Very attentive staff.

The hotel's location in midtown is perfect. I walked to my Broadway shoes off Times Square, to Central Park and to prime shopping areas from the hotel.

The only problem that I had was with the car that I ordered from the hotel to pick me up at JFK. In the hotel's defense, they use a livery service but the price advertised on the hotel's website was $97 which was to include tip, tolls and airport parking. The driver tried to charge me an extra $30 on top of the announced price. I refused to pay and went into the hotel and spoke with the front desk representative who called the livery service and straightened out the issue for me. It wasn't a pleasant start to my visit but the rest of the experience in the hotel made up for it.
