“2nd stay....still meets expectations”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

I stayed at the Library a number of years ago and was quite satisfied, so decided to come back on a recent visit to NYC...the Library was still as pleasant as I remembered, albeit our room ('botany--500.04') was quite small. Great location, steps from Grand Central. Front desk staff very courteous and attentive. If you check in on foursquare, you get a complementary bottle of wine. Plus, a fan of the wine and cheese hour in the Reading Room (free) and breakfast (free). The room was ~$340 around the holidays. There is a great selection of top movies that can be borrowed also, in addition to the books in the room if you're interested in your room's 'topic' (based on the library catalog system)

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here the week before Christmas! The hotel is conveninently located within walking distance of most attractions! They offer a complimentary happy hour with wines, prosecco, cheeses, olives, crackers, fruit, etc that was delicious!! The staff were super friendly and helpful! Our room was clean and a bit more roomy than other places we've stayed in NYC. We will definitely be staying at the Library Hotel upon our return to NYC and recommend that you do too!!

This was just right for us, allowing us to walk nearly everywhere we went, and feel like we were in an intimate setting without the too-close-quarters feeling of a smaller B&B inn. The $25/day parking deal for our car was a nice plus, too. As book readers and collectors, we loved being surrounded by all those books and book-themed rooms. The room was small, and perhaps if we'd needed to spend more time in it, we would have felt crowded, but for sleeping and resting it was fine. There were glitches with the room safe, TV remote, and WiFi, but we didn't let those bother us, and the staff was very helpful.

Room Tip: We were told that we had been upgraded to a larger room. The room we got still seemed pretty small...

This intimate midtown hotel is marvellous.
A great location for accessing all areas of NY. The staff are extremely welcoming, helpful and thoughtful.
It's small and cosy, a wonderful retreat at the end of the day including complimentary proseco, soft drinks and snack food.
An excellent find.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter. Spend as much as possible to get a decent sized room.

The service at this small hotel is utterly fantastic, on a par with the finest hotels in the world. The concept of rooms with the themes of the corresponding card catalog number is innovative and interesting. The rooms are on the small side, like most NY hotels but the location is great for walking to almost anything in Manhattan. Forego the large hotels and stay here for a wonderful experience.

We loved it here. Wonderful sized mini-suite for NY standards (706). Service attentive. Concierge very helpful. Perfect Midtown location for walking to Theater district, restaurants, shopping, Grand Central. Best for couples or singles. Cool rooftop bar on the 14th floor. Only complaint - loud air diffuser in our room for heating system. Otherwise, fab!

The Library Hotel has to be one of the most sincere, darling hotels in all of New York City. From the daily complimentary breakfast and complimentary wine & cheese receptions to the lovely Reading Room and all of the books, ahhh what more could a traveler want. Maybe being centrally located within the city? Check. Impeccable service? Check. Gorgeous, comfortable rooms. Check. The place is grand, and I can't wait to stay there again.

Room Tip: I stayed in Museums on the 10th floor. Gorgeous!
