The place was perfect for my family especially if you are a large group and staying a bit longer than one week in NYC. We spent less that what you might've spent in hotels. Everything you need is within walking distance from this apartment . There's a grocer just down the block, the subway is also a good walking distance. There are cabs all around. If the cab light is on it means it is available. But if it is off, its got a passenger in. The room can accommodate a large group and you can cook here if you like and there's a supply of bath towels, tissue papers and condiments and etc. It's warm and cozy. You feel like you went and stayed at a friend's house. I recommend this place to stay when you visit NYC. Thank you Mr. Wilson for a wonderful stay and for the ride to the airport!
Apartment was clean and prepared for 4 of us. Wilson was very nice and helpful, resolved everything we asked. Weather was not great although it was May, but the apartment was heated. Both rooms are quiet day and night, sleeping was no problem. The main bedroom window is facing street but the street is very quiet and not so much traffic. Just in one night in ten we stayed there, a car alarm started. Being in the city I think this is normal. The cooking possibilities were more than adequate even for a family with children. You have everything to prepare a light meal or a breakfast.Foodtown is at the corner so you don’t need to carry bags for long distances.
The apartment is situated in very good position, subway line A is an express line and is providing quick and direct access to everything from JFK airport to downtown.

The apartment is tiny but very well equipped and comfortable. Still a work in progress for refurbishment but that did not matter at all. It's an old building full of character.
Unfortunately the garden was unable to be used because of repairs. The location was great, a 5-10 min walk to the subway to 50th street. There was a grocery store and laundromat very close by and I felt very safe walking by myself in the evening. Harlem was a good choice, reasonable price and just enough the two of us. Our host Milton was a very nice man and looked after us very well. We had no problems at all and would recommend this apartment to anyone who is happy with clean and comfortable.

Milton Wilson is an absolute gem! He went out of his way to help make our stay as smooth as possible, from providing me with a blow dryer, to collecting parcels at the post office, to arranging a taxi to take us to the airport. He guided us to various amenities, all of which were in walking distance, literally around the corner.
We did not get the apartment we originally arranged, we got a bigger one. It was very neat, clean and spacious and everything that you could need was provided. The beds were comfortable, the water hot. It is centrally located and has wifi which as a traveller is a BIG help.
The area was very secure and we felt safe at all times, even coming home very late at night. As mentioned earlier, everything is within walking distance, supermarket, pharmacy, laundromat, restaurants, the bus stop, subway, all really close by. Being from South Africa and living in the "suburbs" it was a bit of a challenge getting used to the city noise but after a while you don't even hear it any more.
I would truly recommend this apartment to everyone and I would definitely be booking with Milton should I return to New York in the future.

We stayed in Milton's (owner, landlord) 2nd story apt on 126th street (he has other apts that he rents). It was roomie, comfortable, clean & full of character. Kitchen came in handy - and had just about everything we needed. One of the best parts of this apt was how QUIET it was -- the bedroom is on the back side, so NO street noise at all! The bed itself was comfy too. We slept great! Although we never had a chance to use it -- there is a garden area with table, chairs, lounge chairs and a grill. WiFi worked perfectly.
It was a tad difficult to get ahold of Milton once we arrived (he's a busy guy) & getting to the correct apt was a bit of an adventure, BUT having said that, we would definitely rent this particular apt again.
ALSO --- Subway station is close, just down & around the corner (2 & 3 trains). Restaurants (Sylvia's, Red Rooster, Harlem Shakes plus others), Apollo theater, grocery store & CVS are also in close proximity.
Forget NYC hotels and go with apartment rentals!

Milton was the perfect host for this little gem in trendy Harlem! Very affordable and so close to all facilities without being in Times Square. ( about 15 mins from Times Square from this property). We loved the fact that we could get up in the morning and have coffee in the garden while watching the squirrels and being visited by the local cat. Cable TV, Free WIFI and a very spacious apartment that was so well appointed.
Full size fridge/freezer. Microwave, full oven and cook tops, Coffee Machine...the list goes on!!
Supermarket around the corner, very well stocked and restaurants by the hundreds to choose from.
Our host Milton even organised a taxi for us the day we left and he was there on time and got us to the train station early. We cannot recommend this place enough.
Forget your expensive hotels in NYC! This place was the BEST!
