If you are lucky enough to get a table (there aren't many) you'll be in for a real treat. Fresh fish. Authentic, homey Japanese food.

“Great sushi and sashimi, beats Nobu”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

Visiting New York for a first time. We had been to Nobu previous day but this smashed all expectations in the middle of a great day shopping. We found the restaurant actually by accident since when we got hungry we opened up Tripadvisor in my mobile and this was the closest japanese restaurant nearby.

The place is authentic not fancy, but the food was excellent! We had teriyaki beef and sushi + sashimi. We really liked all we ate and the quality/price was excellent. Maybe this tells something aswell: they seemed to have lots of clients ordering sushi for jome delivery. That means that not only tourists like the place but it is more popular among real New Yorkers.

And the price: $57 for a linch for two - and we ate as much as we could and skipped the dinner that night.

Would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone.

“Fantastic Food at Great Prices”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

This is a classic hole in the wall restaurant with minimal seating, but fabulous food at very
good prices. You can eat your fill for under $20 with a Japanese beer. Tempura is excellent
and although they do a brisk business on takeout, you can squeeze in for a small table.
I have been back several times since I first discovered the place wandering from Penn Station to my hotel. They squeezed my luggage in behind reception desk, which was a nice touch.

“Huge portions, tiny place”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Tucked away in midtown on a quiet street, we stumbled in there not expecting too much. But man, have we been wrong. The place is tiny and might look to some a bit run down, but great sushi, huge portions, reasonable prices. Be hungry, take a box (they also do take away).

“Perfect for our first tired night in New York”
Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

The food came quick. The service was fine. The food tasted good. There was plenty of it. Tempura prawns, teriyaki salmon and tofu, vegetarian gyoza and sushi. Price was reasonable. Great start to our holiday.
