Hudson Hotel in is a great location near to Columbus Circle but on a quieter road. You arrive up a neon yellow escalator which hints at some of the decor. On arrival at the huge reception desk we were told our room wasn't quite ready yet, but the receptionist gave us vouchers for 2 free cocktails for the bar behind whilst we waited. The outdoor bar had quirky chairs and tables and was an interesting place to sit.
Our room was spacious, two comfortable double beds. The bathroom large. But not quite enough storage for 2 people let alone a potential 4. But the corridors were weird. I'm sure they think they're quirky, but a dark grey wall with lime green bedroom doors is just odd and gloomy. Air con very effective but noisy, so we switched it off at night.
The other outdoor bar on the 15th floor is great for watching sunsets whilst drinking a cocktail.
Often when we returned to the hotel at night there was loud music coming from one of the bars, but the sound doesn't echo around the rest of the hotel. Also, on a Sunday evening, all the bars shut at 10pm. No alcohol after that which was annoying when you felt like a night cap and unheard of in the UK.
All in all, it was a nice hotel, with great staff, but please change the corridor wall coloursMore
