“Chic Hotel in a Great Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2013

Located a minute from Columbus Circle with easy access to the subway this hotel rocks! In addition, central park is a block away. I can't say enough about the location. It is a great spot in Manhattan.
Room size: Stayed a night in the least expensive room for a night. It is meant for 1 person. 2 people would be squished in the room. Room had all I needed--A/C, tiny fridge, iron and board, shower, tv, toilet even clock with iPod/phone docking station. Bed was comfortable. Then stayed 6 nights in a double room (2 double beds). It was much bigger than first room. Stayed with husband and daughter and had plenty of room. Room had all of above plus a bathtub but didn't have clock/docking station...i used a wake up call and was always on time.
Sky terrace is a great place to grab a drink and view. Cozy spot to relax or meet up with people.
Free coffee/tea in the am was a bonus. Staff was friendly. Concierges were awesome!
Would definately stay here again!

Room Tip: If street noise bothers you, ask to stay in a room on the interior, not facing the street.

Just returned from five nights in NYC staying at the Hudson and I loved it. It's like nothing I've ever seen before and oozes "cool" from the façade to the reception area to the many bars, especially the rooftop! As others have noted the rooms are tiny but fitted out so nicely that they are perfect assuming you're not there to spend time in your hotel room and why would you when you're right in the middle of midtown NYC. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here on my next trip.

The hotel certainly won't be forgotten in a short time with its unique interior and design. Only one block from Central Park and a 30 minute walk from Times Square you're amidst the full throttle New York atmosphere.
The rooms contained modern decor with all the amenities you need for a short break. They were some what small but this is seems to be the trend in the Big Apple. We were fortunate to have a view along the avenue and the noise of the traffic drones into the back ground after the first day.
The staff we experienced were all friendly and helpful. We had to be moved due to late night partying neighbours but the room change was swift and stress free.
This hotel comes highly recommending to anyone visiting NY what ever the reason and is great value for money based on its location alone.

Thank you for the positive feedback! It's great to see that you enjoyed all aspects of your Hudson experience. I do apologize that you had to be moved during your stay but luckily it was handled in a way that didn't inconvenience you.

We have completed many renovations since your last stay in December so I hope you will be back to join us soon to experience them.

If there is anything that I can help you with in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Pros....The location is excellent, right next to central park and columbus circle subway. The staff were friendly when we arrived and advised us on getting to the baseball. The hotel is very 'cool' and different, the lifts are very unusual inside as are the corridors leading to the rooms. The roof top bars were nice, however they were too busy for us to use.

Cons.... the main issue for me was the bedroom, they are small, which is not so much an issue as you should be spending all da round new york. However the real issue for me is the window into the bathroom, personally I would rather have privacy when I am using the bathroom! The air conditioning units in the room were very loud which made it difficult to sleep.

SmellyMoose,

Thank you for choosing Hudson during your trip to NYC! We are pleased to see that you enjoyed our central location and design. For future stays, we do have rooms that do not have the peek-a-boo shower if you would like some more privacy. We also have several different room categories, so if you would like to return I would be more than happy to discuss with you the different rooming options.

Thank you again for your feedback and please do not hesitate to reach out to me if there is anything that I can help you with.

You expect small rooms in New York but not minture bathrooms. If you you are over 5'7" / 170cm tall don`t bother with their standard room.I couldn`t sit on the toilet as it was only 8.5" /22cm away from the wall so I had to sit side saddle . Their defence was that they do give you the size of the room on their site which is true . ( Not their bathroom size ) For an extra $70 per night they upgraded us to room that was slightly larger and had an extra 3 " / 75mm in the bathroom so you could just sit normally. As with both rooms the std and the delux and in all rooms I believe the airconditiong fan coil unit sits directly behind the bed head. So you have the pleasure of listening to a loud drone on what ever setting you put on the unit except off of course. If your lucky enough to have one of the inside rooms the noise from the bar and disco on the podium deck will drown out the aircon noise at least until midnight. The Hudson has about 10 lifts ( elevators ) however only half of them work so plan to spend a lot of time waiting for full lifts we walked the stairs down always because it was a lot quicker. Even with the full compliment of lifts working there still would not be enough to service the 800 odd rooms.

Room Tip: Don`t forget your ear plugs

Dear highgatehill,

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent Hudson experience. We are sorry to hear your accommodations, both the one initially booked and upgraded room, did not meet your expectations. We do have larger rooms than Deluxes which start at 300 square feet. Feel free to request a quiet room during your next stay and we will make sure you receive one. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again.

Kind regards,
Sabrina

I almost cancelled my room at this hotel, but am so glad I didn't! After reading several negative reviews about the size of the rooms, etc., I was worried about staying here with my family (two teenagers) and husband, but it was perfect for us. We stayed in a double room and had more than enough room for the 4 of us. The location is perfect. You are a block away from Central Park West, the subway, a short walk to Times Square and Lincoln Center. The inside of the hotel is very hip and dark, but the darkness was a welcome relief from the sweltering heat and humidity of NYC in July! We spent time on the outdoor terrace, they serve food and drinks there. You can also sit outside on the terrace and have (complimentary) coffee in the morning. There is a rooftop bar on the 15th floor with fantastic views of the city. My husband and son played pool in the "library" every day. Honestly, this hotel is very cool and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 15th floor and it was quiet. The only noise we heard was across the hall from our...

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel and it was perfect for a NYC stay. The location is just 1 block from Central park and a half block from the subway. The style is very eclectic and modern. The place has 4 bars all in different styles and a 15th floor sky terrace that is great at night. The front desk person, Brittany, was very welcoming and did a very good job at explaining the hotel ammenities/bars/food/etc. Wifi is free with the room which can sometimes be hard to get in the city. The only negative thing is that there really isn't a sign, except for a small plaque, that says the name so we did miss it the first time we walked by it. It is also right across from a grocery store and walgreens so water and things are easy to get without paying an arm and a leg on the street. The mini fridge is perfect to keep some drinks in. The rooms are really small, but this is typical of anywhere in NYC. I would highly recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.
