Description: Hospoda presents new beer-inspired cuisine. These New American dishes are created by Executive chef Rene B. Stein and prepared using beer or its primary ingredients in various creative ways. Each dish is meant to be paired with the purest and freshest Czech Pilsner Urquell, local craft beers, and selected European and American wines.

Thought I was visiting a Czech restaurant when I visited with two friends, but discovered the restaurant had changed hands and shifted to a new American focus. The food is highly stylized but flavors are sensational! The food is deftly prepared with multi-layered flavors and textures which amaze and delight the palate! I had an Idaho trout dish which was wonderful and my companions-one who had beef and the other a vegetable dish thoroughly enjoyed their entrees. The ambiance was chic but warm and our server was charming, attentive, offered candid responses to our inquiries and was always attentive to our needs.

We keep coming back to Hospoda. The four course prix fixe is $62 and is a good deal for NYC. The food is beautifully presented, well thought out, and tasty. It isn't comfort food, but rather very modernist influenced. They give you some nice little amuse bouches and palette cleansers--things you'd expect from a much more pricey restaurant. The space is roomy enough that you don't have to hear what your neighbor did at work. (Too many NYC restaurants mistake NOISE for energy and fortunately this isn't one of those places. It's probably the high price of their rent that makes them pack tables so closely.) And it's very elegant. A great spot for beer lovers, but the wine list seems strong too.

Good service, great Hostess

Beef Tartare, nicely presented very much tasteless.
Filet Steak was served warm, when brought back it was overcooked.

Instead of Dessert we ordered from the Beer Menu which doesn't offer a great selection but served perfectly

This czech restaurant has a very good offer. Simple but tasty menu makes it a great choice when visiting the big apple. A wide variety of Czech beers and great wines from all over the world makes a wonderful complement to its savory cuisine

Hospoda is unique in its ambiance and menu. I don't drink beer but my friends were pleased with the extensive menu. The food is creative and delicious, though a little on the heavy side. It is surprisingly expensive for the neighborhood. Think it is likely better to try during happy hour.
